The sambal lacks the spiciness of the one sold as a souvenir, and the rice isn't very fluffy. However, the dried shrimp adds a nice crunchy texture and unique flavor.

The fried foods are also quite hard, possibly from being left out in the display for too long.

The biggest areas for improvement are the room temperature, which can be uncomfortably warm due to the many windows and open structure, and the slow ordering process, which leads to complaints during lunch hours. It might be better to deliver ready dishes promptly rather than waiting for all orders to be ready before serving any, as this delays service and leads to cold food.

On the plus side, the parking is spacious, and the location is easily accessible from the roadside.

I came here for the food souvenir, it has the best sambal in town. There are also varieties of traditional authentic food souvenir like crackers etc. The price is reasonable and the shop is clean, tidy and well maintained. There's also restaurant upstairs.

I downgraded the rating from five to three because one of the staff members said the sambal sachet could last for two months without mentioning it needed to be refrigerated. However, when I confirmed it on their business WhatsApp, it said it could only last for three days without refrigeration. Consequently, I had to wastefully throw away seven packs sets of the sambal sachet. How unfortunate!

Never have I stated in my review that “This is my first visit and also will be my last; I will not go back to eat in this place,” this will be my first time doing so.

We arrive at 7.30 PM; from the outside, the place looks impressive; we must go up to eat because the first floor is dedicated to parking; there is a lift ready to use, but we prefer stairs. They have a mini market for bu Rudy and other small and medium enterprises products. Because we intend to get dinner, we climb through to the 3rd floor.
The interior looks nice, with wooden tables and chairs; the AC is quite warm for Surabaya night, and there's a snack counter near the cashier and a food counter at the back, so we ask how to order, choose from the counter or the table, they direct us to the table and give us the menu book, it is 7.40ish PM.

We chose several dishes from the menu and called up the waiter. She told us the dish we decided on (pecel, urap, fish) was already unavailable, ok then we chose the lodeh and some fried, again she told us it was unavailable, so we asked what was available then, she answered the one on the front is available, so we open the first page of the menu and order from there nasi campur special and ayam goreng, she takes our order.

After that, I walked to the food counter to look around, and I heard the argument between our waiter and the kitchen staff, the kitchen staff said that the ayam goreng was all up, so it was unavailable (I was standing in front of a tray full of fried chicken at that moment). The waiter says, “I cannot say that to the customer.” She knew that the fried chicken was available. It was just an excuse from the kitchen staff; when I asked her what happened, the kitchen staff quickly said, “The chicken is available for one portion only,” and took the tray with all of the chicken to the back. From there, I checked out the snack counter and ordered some snacks, two tahu isi, and one fried pineapple; no problem here.

We waited not too long to get our food delivered, and after a few scoops, I realized there was no sambal, so we asked the waiter that passed by (not the same waiter); he answered the sambal was at the table and we answered there wasn’t any at our table, then he gets us one. After the sambal came, the food tasted better; after the main course, I tried the snack, which was solid like a rock (not a compliment), it is so hard, I think you can use it to pave your driveway. Even the spoon and fork are giving up on cutting them.

Hunger can make food taste 1000x tastier, but here because of the experience hunger only makes me saltier.

I assume that the staff are eager to clean up as fast as they can so that at closing time they can directly go home, not the usual standard of cleaning up after the closing time, the kitchen staff (although it is still 7.40ish) don’t want the waiter to take order that required them to do the cooking process, they direct them to propose the food on front (on front of the counter, the pre cooked nasi campur, not the on front of the menu book).
I assume the whole tray of ready to cook chicken is going to the fridge? Which mean it is going out again tomorrow and the days after? So the food here is not fresh.
The waiter also not focus on serving the customer and checking the tables because they are to busy cleaning and preparing to go home.

Summaries all of it, the quite nice place, lots of parking spot, the AC that not cold enough, the standard food and the very lazy staff, and bad experience. They were right to call it depot not restaurant, because the service there is on the same level when we eat at depot and waroong, don’t expect to much, and lower your expectations when you decided to visit. Me myself, i prefer to eat elsewhere. They really need to train their staff, and have a good SOP,  also perhaps have site manager who supervise this kind of thing.
