I had an exceptional dining experience at this vegan Mexican fusion restaurant, where the food quality exceeded my expectations. The friendly and accommodating staff promptly served our customized dishes, ensuring that dietary preferences were met. While some found the food a bit salty, I appreciated the diverse flavors showcased in each dish. The corn on the cob, calamari taco, and BBQ cauliflower were standout favorites, while the falafel taco may not appeal to everyone. The set menu was a fantastic deal, providing ample portions for the price. If you're unsure of what to order, the staff's recommendations were spot on and led to a delightful culinary experience. Despite the wait time for the food, the overall service and the variety of flavors in each dish made it well worth it. Beautiful restaurant on King St in Newtown serving a completely plant based menu. It took me a few goes to get my head around that, especially as the scent of food from the kitchen was so convincing that it was meat and seafood! Service is exceptional so they can help with the menu or drinks. We had a selection of the amazing tacos (jackfruit chicken is sooo good), the cauliflower and prawn black toast (my favourite). Large selection of cocktails and wine too. Resturant is roomy so great for groups as well as couples. 80s hits playing which we really enjoyed. Highly recommend

First time in a fully plant based restaurant for us! And it was a treat, the food was amazing! No idea how you made plants look and taste like prawns and calamari but you nailed it. And my absolute favourite were crispy cauliflower wings. I had only one cocktail and you could tell, they know what they're doing! Even the high chairs were surprisingly comfy! If I was to be super picky, I had high expectations with desert after being spoiled with starters, mains and drinks, but it didn't hit the spot. Churros were a little chewy, maybe should have gone for the brownie! All in all, highly recommend, great evening full of flavour!

Serving sizes were insane for the shared tasting menu. It’s very worth it for the price you pay. I was so full and happy after the meal!

Absolutely loved our experience at Calle Ray in Newtown! This place is a gem for vegan food lovers. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the service was spot on. But the real standout? The cauliflower dish — hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly roasted, bursting with flavor, Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. Five stars all the way! Oh and the happy hour half price cocktails ! No better deal
