Well decorated and much like the traditional Peranakan style. Upstairs aircon is a little weak. Staff may be a little forgetful but still polite. Food wise, much oil and its taste isn’t strong or as salty. Overall is still pretty good.

Bumbu has always been our go-to place for meetups because it’s halal, the food is decent, and the ambience is charming. I’ve always liked their tahu telor and beef rendang — both were usually rich and flavourful. However, when I visited recently, I noticed that the flavours weren’t as strong as before. It’s a little disappointing since this place used to be consistently good. That said, because of its nice atmosphere and good track record, my friends and I will probably give it another try the next time we meet.

Excellent service. Love the classic peranakan decor. Ordered the following: Sambal Kangkong Sotong Hitam Beef rendang Tahu telur Ayam Ngoh Hiang Ayam Keluak All the dishes were rich and tasty. Could afford to be a little spicier. Generous rice serving with top up. Relatively good price about $30/pax Will definitely come here again. Good location to bring foreign guests who can appreciate local delicacy. Halal establishment.

New Year’s Eve dinner: not too crowded, had a pleasant dining experience with friends and homely Peranakan dishes. Love that there was free flow rice option. Great service too. What we ordered: • Fish maw soup-so flavourful • Ayam buah keluak-the buah keluak nuts were the star of the dish, chicken and gravy (too liquidy) could be better • Nonya chapchye-can’t go wrong with this • Butter oat soft shell crab-very moreish
