199 William St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
The hotel was in a very convenient spot. Easily accessible from trams, easy to get to popular restaurants. Had a rooftop pool and a gym accessible to guests. Rooms were spacious, although a lot of the 2 bed hotel rooms only have 1 bathroom which can be an inconvenience. Service was acceptable, staff were friendly but couldn't assist us with some basic linen requests (May have been due to some policies from the hotel management). I would like to note that the rooftop pool gets overshadowed by taller buildings so the window to enjoy the pool is limited.
Booked this hotel for a mother/daughter trip to Melbourne as it was recommended by my son and daughter in law. Overall it was a pleasant stay but there were a few issues we encountered. When I rang to book I asked for 2 single beds and was led to believe that could be arranged. On check in I was told that wasn’t possible. I was also told on booking that I had access to valet parking. I chose not to book my own cheaper parking based on the convenience of this detail. When we arrived in the area there was clearly nowhere vacant to pull up and unload and after a couple of calls to reception (and multiple trips around the block) had to be directed to the parking they use at quite an expensive rate. When we were given the keys and went up to our room, on entry the lights and the tv were on and suitcases in the hallway. Not ours as we brought our own up. After turning the tv off, we then couldn’t get it to work again and had ongoing issues with this service. On booking I had asked if we would have access to Netflix and I was assured I would. When we got there I enquired once the tv was working but was told there was no Netflix. Not a big deal as we could cast but it seemed that there was a bit of confusion amongst the staff and we were repeatedly given misleading information about the different details (hence only 3 stars on service). When we approached the staff about these issues they were polite and respectful and promptly rectified what they could and we were able to overlook the misleading information but got to say I was surprised. Perhaps due to my own lack of research but I thought Wyndham was for holiday accommodation. I wasn’t expecting to be sharing the hotel with permanent residents. Again, not a problem, it was just a bit odd. The gym and the pool areas were great and the location of the hotel (apart from lack of parking) was very convenient for the city experience. The room itself was well equipped, clean and comfortable. On the room information it noted that the room would be serviced if our stay was longer than 8 days. We came home after our second day, however, to find the room had been serviced. Not a problem, although unnecessary and again misleading. If I was traveling to Melbourne again I’d probably look at other accommodation options and organise my own parking.
Very suitable for four persons family trip who requires in room washing machine comes with dryer. I prefer non public washing machine for hygience purpose. With this Location is good and convenient, the tram is just next to the hotel.
As first time guests we were very happy with the friendly staff & thoroughly enjoyed our spacious, clean room. The bed was so comfortable. The location was close to so many eateries & places of interest.
