I was very excited about my stay here, probably one of the best places I've stayed in Asia! Feels very secure. Has a bright, minimalistic and modern atmosphere. A big plus with the easy possibility to do laundry. And omg the bed was so amazing and soft, I almost miss it!

Like the previous reviewer I found Wonderwall to be far better than expected albeit I don't have very high expectations as a solo budget traveller. The simple test is whether I would choose to stay here again? And the answer is yes. My only issue with this place is it took me 2 hrs to find it arriving in the wee hours of the morning. Wonderwall is located on the 9th floor of a grotty building with 3 lift entrances. The place is totally deserted in the morning and looks grotty as I said. It transforms itself later in the day to become a buzzing electronics shopping centre. The three lifts are in three different parts of the b uilding. Look for the gym then look for the entrance to the right of it. Enter here and turn left and u find the lift hidden 10m to the left. Yep, a rat hole but what a gem at the end!! Good luck.

Had to do a review for this hotel because it's worth every penny. While the entrance of the hotel looks dodgy, entering the hotel transports you to a totally different world. I spent SGD$94.50 per night and it's well worth. Besides having a bathtub, it includes Moschino toiletries, Dyson hairdryer, snacks, coffee and tea at the pantry. Service was excellent as well.

Accommodation 5/5 This was the 2nd time i been to and stay in the vicinity of Ximending and Wonderwall was a really interesting place to stay in. The accomodation that i booked was the Deluxe Queen Room was very modern and the room was really quite huge for a room in the city itself. It has a large shower area and a seperate bathtub and separate toilet (at least the room I booked) with a queen size bed and plenty of empty space. The area also has various smaller rooms down to bunk beds but the way it has been set up has many different options for different type of travellers. The color scheme chosen for this location is very white and clean and gives quite positive vibes. Also being a boutique hotel means that the tv is modern and can do all your usual streaming (YouTube, Netflix) without complication Location 4.5/5 Location is great! It is right beside Ximending area itself and it is a less than 10 minute walk to the Ximen MRT station itself. That area is actually also a walking distance (slightly longer maybe 15-20 minutes) to Taipei Main Station itself so that is an additional plus. From that area, thanks to the transportation network, it becomes quite easy to go to any of the night markets, tourist spots in Taipei, and always wind down with a relaxing shopping experience at the more modern Ximending before resting for the night. There is even a Don Donki nearby so you enjoy quite a bit of late night shopping. The only con of this location is that Wonderwall is not a full building hotel, but rather takes up a floor in a shopping center. So you will just need to find your way to the specific lift lobby to get to the hotel, but the moment u reach the floor, you will feel a vast change in atmosphere. There is also some bars and good famous eating places in the vicinity so you would always have things to do. Service 4.5/5 Staff was pretty friendly and check in was relatively fast enough. The staff was even nice enough to give food recommendations, basic directions and even help with washing. The lobby itself is also a very comfortable place to lounge around in with free water and tea (not drinks though) Atmosphere 4.5/5 Honestly once you reach the hotel itself, it is very comfortable and cosy, the only fuss that you will experience is just to get to the hotel itself. After that you will have a very nice and chill vibe and you could really just take it slow within the confines of the hotel itself. Note of course that this is not a full building hotel, so there won't be any swimming pools etc. Regardless, if you wanted the night market vibes it is just road away. Price 4.5/5 Given it's location and amenities provided, the price is actually very good for a room of that size with a very clean and modern bath area. They most likely were able to keep the prices so low due to them just using a single floor instead of owning the entire building which means the savings could go to a better price with higher quality rooms. Overall 4.5/5 This was a great place to stay and allows for easy planning and comfortable resting place due to it's good location. With many different room types, you could find one to fit your budget and even the best rooms are large, comfortable but not overpriced. Of course the savings would be coming from it not being a full building hotel with no additional facilities so do keep that in mind when booking this hotel. If you cherish a slightly bigger room, staying at XMD in this room beats staying in a much smaller room at Taipei main station itself at about a matching price

We had a great stay at Wonderwall Hotel in Ximen! The room we stayed in was big, spacious, and very clean. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Ximending, so you’re just a short walk away from all the popular food spots and shops. They clearly invested in quality, our bed was super soft and comfortable, and they even had a Dyson hair dryer, which was a nice touch. The amenities were great too, with free snacks available for guests. The front desk staff were amazing, very polite, helpful, and they could speak and understand English well. They even assisted us with our airport transfer, which made everything so convenient. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a stylish, comfortable, and well-located place to stay in Taipei!
