Universal Hotel Urumqi

I had a one night stop over in Urumqi in August 2018. The airline had complimentary hotel arrangement but I booked Universal Hotel on my own. It is a solid 4 star hotel with a luxury ambiance and rooms are tidy and comfortable. The hotel has good restaurants, including one with Muslim (halal) meals. The distance is about 20 Mins from the airport and that makes it quite convenient. There is a night club right beside the property and that does make it a bit noisy. One downside: Hardly any one speaks English at the reception and this one person named BILL was my focal point of contact for queries.

Best locations. Easy access from every where and subway stations. Near library and night market. Best services. Comfortable and clean rooms. Everything was well organized. Complete amenities in the room. Very good breakfast with many variations of foods. Recommended for all families.

Central to the Urumqi district. East to get around. Room not very modern but clean. Spacious.

Stayed a night during our trip to Xinjiang. Lobby is very impressive with the super high ceiling. Rooms are spacious and comfortable but my big complaint is the bathroom which is clear walls. No privacy and the worst part is that when someone goes to the toilet in the middle of night, the bathroom light also lots up the room waking up others. Breakfast array was very impressive.
