05 Grand Hotel Rd, Nuwara Eliya 22200, Sri Lanka
Came here just for the High Tea. Such a pretty property with wonderfully maintained English gardens. The High Tea was good, lots of variety and plenty of tea! The accompanying sparkling wine option was a little pricey for what you get. Great to walk around the hotel after and look at all the history. Def worth a visit when in Nuwara Eliya
Stayed in February 2025. Grand it certainly is! Themed on a British colonial vibe, the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. Surprisingly wide range of restaurants and very high quality of food in the restaurants. Excellent location in town. The only weak points are the bedrooms which need some love and investment and the attitude of the restaurant manager who needs to go on a customer service refresher course!
My stay at The Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya was an exceptional experience, marked by world-class service and genuine hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the professionalism and courtesy shown by every team member, from the security and doorman to the bellman, concierge, front desk staff, food and beverage staff, kitchen team, gym personnel, and housekeeping staff. Their training program is clearly comprehensive and effective, as every interaction reflected attention to detail and a true commitment to guest satisfaction. Even with my background in hospitality and experience with globally recognized luxury properties, I found the service at The Grand to be truly top-tier.
This is truly one of the most romantic hotels in town. The garden is filled with beautiful flowers, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere that’s perfect for couples. We loved the room’s antique look, which added a rich and elegant charm to our stay. Everything about the place feels thoughtfully designed and full of character. Highly recommended for couples looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway.
Our high tea experience was nothing short of wonderful. The service was truly impeccable – every detail was handled with care and grace, and the staff were so kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, tucked away in comfort with delicious food and warm hospitality. The spread was generous and beautifully presented – a lovely mix of sweet and savoury treats, all fresh and flavourful. But what made it extra special was the live saxophonist playing during our visit. He had such a great energy, happily took song requests, and added a personal, joyful touch that really elevated the whole experience. It was relaxed, elegant, and felt like a real treat. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, special moment during their trip – especially if the weather calls for something cosy and indulgent indoors.
