Great place, definitely worth the reasonable rate. Our private room shared the dorm bath, but there also happened to be a shower right next to the room, out of the way from the rest of the hostel, and I don’t think anyone but us used it. Our room was above the cafe but there was no noticeable noise (certainly not after 10pm), though some folks did clomp up and down the stairs. The hostel is as described, industrial, very spartan, somewhat brooklyn…no decorations or furnishings, exposed concrete and vintage wood— yet very clean and energizing, unique space. Staff was invisible and efficient, kept the halls and toilets and showers spotless like house elves. Reception was lovely; she adjusted our booking with a workaround (without us having to ask) where another host might have refused and forced us to pay about night without recourse. Gave great information about onward travel. Super friendly. Hostel location can’t be beat— hawkers and bars all around, but still quiet! Loved it!

Such an amazing little place to sleep, chill, hangout. Close to the center of everything in town. Beds are extremely comfortable. Booked in the 12 pods room. Slept extremely well, room was quiet. Shower facilities were constantly maintained and cleaned. Coffee/breakfast area was bright and provided what you’d require for a light bite in the morning. Back outdoor patio area was a peaceful place to just sit and enjoy the fresh air or have a glass of wine.

Stayed in a private double with en-suite. Relatively good value for money but rooms are super basic & quite small (especially the bathroom). Room also without window but probably for the best as we couldn’t hear much from the mosque opposite. Nice social areas but wouldn’t say it has a social vibe if that’s what you’re looking for. Location great as in heart of everything you want to see.

The location is great and the building itself is part of George Town's history - they kept the vibe of the place while making it comfortable. Chulia Street has a lot of street food stalls, bars, and coffee/breakfast places. It's super central with all the attractions around. Its super walkable but, if you do need to get further there are at least 4/5 bus routes passing in front of the hostel/close by that can take you to the Penang Hill or to the N. Park. There's a coffee place inside the hostel with amazing coffees, some cakes and very nice staff. There's an inner patio, reading area, big table for work... I had a situation in my room and after explaining the staff promptly gave me another room/bed. The mosque in front of the guesthouse might wake you up a couple of times due to the praying schedule but they inform about it on their description and they also provide earplugs so it shouldn't be a reason not to stay. I stayed for 2 weeks and I would go there again.

Very nice hostel! I loved the style of the building and how its heritage was preserved, had such a unique feel. My dorm was very clean and the bed was comfy. Free drinking water and a towel provided are always nice to see, too. Not a social/backpacker vibe if that’s what you’re after but the chilled and quiet atmosphere was perfect for me. Brilliant location within walking distance to major food spots and attractions. Would definitely recommend!
