Royal Hotel is easy to find near Hanoi's Old Quarter, and it's no issue to arrive via Grab or local taxi. You simply can't miss the giant sign once you're on the right street. We stayed in a superior deluxe room, which offered two beds, an armoire with ample storage, and a sizable bathroom. A small elevator is available (and I do mean small — even two guests may need to ride separately if bringing baggage), and your typical narrow Vietnamese stairs are also available. The accommodations were quite satisfying, but it's worth noting the mattresses were extremely firm even by Asian standards. If you need a squishy Western marshmallow bed, this is not the place for you. The service we received at the hotel was excellent, with the front desk employee being extremely helpful and eager to help in any way he could. While we had some basic Vietnamese skills at our disposal, they weren't needed as he spoke excellent English. My one "gotcha" is that the neighborhood Royal Hotel is in does close up early and open late; your food options dwindle as the night goes on, and there are no ATMs available after bank hours.

Breakfast was lacking (but at least it's "free"). Beds are a little bit old and uncomfortable, but rooms were clean enough. Location is close to everything you might want to see in Hà Nội. Some bugs might be found.

Facilities are good for the price. Staff are friendly and supportive. Recommend!
