Excellent host! A lovely atmosphere, you are made to feel very welcome. Beautiful house, free bikes to use. BBQ for all guests on Saturdays. Room is comfortable and clean, air conditioned. Snacks, towels and cold drinks to purchase. Would recommend 100%!

During my 3 month study abroad in Taiwan this was my favorite hotel/hostel. The host was incredibly kind, social, and made delicious sweet potatoes for all of the guests. It was lovely interacting with fellow guests who were from all over the world. 我希望再見高雄！

No 79 Backpackers Hostel is located in a preserved military village and a great place to stay for history enjoyers. Very conveniently located near a huge amount of restaurants and street food hawkers on the main street. You could unironically stay here for a month and not eat the same thing twice. The location is communal and promotes a social atmosphere. The bossman who runs the place holds BBQ movie night every weekend and invites everyone to join. He works very hard to maintain the place, he even paid out of his own pocket for recent upgrades including a new larger refrigerator for his guests. The location includes free WiFi as well. I recommend you book with the LINE app. It’s much more convenient that way and the bossman is very responsive. Just look for “No 79 Backpackers Hostel” when adding friends through the LINE app, you will see it pop up as an official business account. You’ll need LINE anyways, as it’s the preferred communication app in Taiwan.

The boss is a hard worker and makes it a lovely little place to stay. Check out the nearby vegetarian restaurant.
