I would give a 6 star rating if I can. The staffs were very kind and made me feel like I am home despite arriving really late and fully soaked after cycling in the rain for 14 hours. The facilities are very nice, especially the fully equipped kitchen with cute tablewares. I hope I could have the chance to stay in this hostel again someday, of course without being late and drenched in rain.

Really enjoyed a simple stay at the stunning preserved traditional Japanese house hostel Igusa - the gardens in front & the house is beautifully maintained. The neighborhood is also quiet, traditional and beautiful as streams run alongside the streets & other houses also maintain a traditional aesthetic. Easy & reasonably priced parking a short, pleasant walk away near the train station.

The location for this town is good. The town is small and quiet, but the hostel is not far from the train. So it is easy to access all the way to Shikoku, Okayama, kojima, or you can stay local. If you like visiting small quiet towns in Japan as I do, this place will be worth your time. I would recommend a stay of 2 to 3 days for your first time, plenty to see but you will not feel bored or overwhelmed. The owner speaks very good English and is very kind. He will typically message you before your stay so please check your email if you booked online.

Very good place to stay, conveniently located by the train so you can get to nearby towns. Very good value and makes you feel like you’re staying in an authentic Japanese house. 10/10 would recommend for a few nights.

If you love a lovely atmosphere reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films, Hayashima is your city, and this traditional guesthouse feels like a fairy tale. It's an absolutely amazing place. You can relax in the main room, enjoying a drink or a meal while taking in the view of a traditional Japanese garden filled with birds and dragonflies. The garden and quiet environment are wonderful. The town is small and cozy, making it a perfect base, just a few stops away from Okayama. The guesthouse owner is incredibly kind and helpful. When I lost my wallet, he went out of his way to assist and cheer me up. And because we're in Japan, my wallet was eventually found.
