Excellent boutique hotel next to Nijo Castle. The concierge is by far the best in the hotels I’ve stayed in so far. They went above and beyond to help me book a special restaurant for my partners birthday. The restaurants dinner and breakfast is really tasty too.

Staying at this quiet boutique hotel was one of the highlights to the 15 days we spent in Japan. It is an oasis of beautiful gardens and secluded niches with rooms that are perfectly designed for today’s travel needs. Truly a curated experience that should not be missed. From the moment you arrive, the attentive and friendly staff pamper you and cater to your every need. The hotel lobby overlooks an enclosed pond surrounded by a bamboo garden with mist machines hidden beneath the moss garden floor that create a magical effect reminiscent of a cloud forest. Rooms overlook the splendour of the 17th century Nijo Castle and surrounding moats/gardens. A perfect blend of modern and traditional Japanese design and decor. Our room was exceptional, perfectly serviced, and made it easy to relax and unwind after 5 long days taking in the many sights and experiences that Kyoto has to offer. “Singular” the in house restaurant serves the nicest breakfast we were served throughout our numerous hotel stays in the country but with subtle lighting and table decor tweaks transforms into a unique venue where they host a fine dining experience that will not be soon forgotten. We strongly recommend the tasting menu that offers an exquisite blend of traditional Japanese and French haute-cuisine. It would be a mistake to miss this experience if you are ever staying in Kyoto.

Relaxing and luxurious our recent stay was magnificent. We selected the Garrya to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! Our suite was a sanctuary of comfort, featuring plush bedding, breathtaking views, and state-of-the-art amenities that elevated the experience beyond expectations. The attention to detail was impeccable—a personalized welcome note, and a curated welcome made it clear that guest satisfaction is a top priority. Each meal was a culinary masterpiece, showing the finest ingredients and expert craftsmanship of Kyoto. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. We look forward to returning

Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto offers a wonderful stay with exceptional service and genuinely friendly staff. The room design beautifully blends modern aesthetics with traditional Japanese elements—we especially loved the tatami area in the room, which added a serene touch. The lobby is stunning, with coffee tables that reflect the peaceful garden outside, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere. Our room was surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel, making it even more comfortable. We also really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast, which was both delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a refined and tranquil Kyoto stay. ?✨?

We had an exceptional stay at the Garrya Nijo Castle hotel. The hotel itself gorgeous, tranquil and well-located, being directly across from Nijo Castle and within walking distance of the centre, while still being in a peaceful and non touristy area. The fact that the hotel restaurant is michelin starred is also remarkable. But what made it amazing was the impeccable, attentive and personalised service by their staff. Their recommendations as to restaurants and activities were always spot-on and made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommend.
