At this point is the beginnjng of Qianmen street, a pedestrian street not far from the Tiananmen square where you will find, souvenir shops, local tea houses, restaurants and retail shops. At the entrance is a gate, part of Beijing's historic city wall. Qianmen Street runs along the Beijing central axis. It is one of the last remnants of the business centres of the old Beijing. Places like the Guanghe Theater, today threatened with demolition, and the Quanjude roast duck restaurant are part of Beijing’s history. Trolley cars are back to transport and entertain tourists on weekends and public holidays.The area is home to 50 courtyards and hutongs listed as state-level heritage sites, as well as 80 famed shops that have been operating for over a century, such as the Liubiju sauce and pickle shop, Tongrentang drugstore, Ruifuxiang silk shop, Neiliansheng shoes store and Zhangyiyuan tea shop.

Qianmen Pedestrian Street is a must to see after visiting Tiananmen Square. Clean and lovely. Lots of shops around. Have a taste of local food here or buy some souvenirs.

This is a walking area, very convinient to visit combining with Tianmen square. Its better to come here in the afternoon or evening because its more vital with food smell, lighting and activities of local people. If you want to buy gifts, you can go into small street where things are cheaper. Remember to bargain, its normally 30_50% cheaper. Food are delicious and many options to choose. For my visit, it was Nov 2023, I see that some stores are closed at the end of street (maybe they didnt survive after Covid and economics recession). Anyway, in China today, food and public transportation are still resonable price compared with Europe and Us. For other stuffs, maybe its not the same.

Not sure why it's called bridge, there isn't actually a bridge, it's actually the gate thing that marks the start of the qian men pedestrian street. The street has lots of restaurants, coffee shops and souvenir shops and I regard it as a must see when in the area, some of the more famous Beijing restaurants also have branches here. It is very pretty at night, so worth coming at night for some night photos and street photography.

One of the best streets in Beijin. Great for food and drinks. Very nice at night!
