43C3+W94, Teluk Tering, Batam Kota, Batam City, Riau Islands 29444, Indonesia
Sign is very nice and welcoming, visible from Jalan Engku Putri. Landmarks in the background add to the scenic view.
night market with funfair-like games, street stalls selling mie bakso, drinks, loklok, burger, finger snacks etc. Recommend trying pisang goreng keju coklat there -15k rp and it was so delicious even after keeping a few hours! Also recommend Telur Gulung by this makcik, super delicious and cheap! Place is not exactly clean, but good experience with really good food finds! Walkable from One Batam Mall - abt 15mins walk.
"Welcome to Batam, the gateway to Indonesia’s Riau Islands! Discover vibrant culture, stunning beaches, delicious seafood, and exciting shopping experiences. A perfect getaway awaits just a ferry ride away from Singapore and Malaysia!"
Took this photo at the nearby mosque. It is for those who arrived via ferry from Batam Center signalised you have arrived and you can see this sign from the road on the way to Nagoya. So nice.
The Welcome to Batam sign is a must visit when visiting the island. Trips both day and night would give a glimpse of the attraction in daylight and lit up in an evening. At one time, this place was a great photo opportunity spot, but nowadays, the attraction has lost some of its allure due to the construction taking place in front of it. In time, its appeal will be totally lost, which is sad. Check it out while you still can.
