The experience is very nice. We chose first class, wich got us seats in the belle epoque cart, very well preserved, with big windows, wich helps in the admiration of the views. Short after the train took off they served Pain au Chocolat (very good) and some beverages. Then we arrived at a station where you trade the train for a bus. And from that moment until the end, the whole transportation was by bus. First stop was at La Maison de Gruyère, getting to know a bit more about the production of this type of cheese. They have found a very immersive way of doing so, I liked it. Then we went to the medieval city of Gruyères, for some time of free tourism and lunch (we went to the castle, I recommend the visit - not included on the price, but you do get 50% off for being on the tour). Then, for last, the Callier chocolate factory, we loved it! It was very interactive and at the end there was the chocolate tasting, amazing. It is a confortable and simple way of getting to know the country side of switzerland and two of their especialties, cheese and chocolate. It is a whole day ride, we left at 9:50 and were back at montreaux at 17:15. The fact that the actual train ride on the “train du chocolat” is so short is the only downside. We loved the experience and the tour guide Cris was very sweet and helpful.
Had a tour in July 2022. Wonderful tour and perfect arrangements. Tour guide was very friendly and helpful and shared lot of information about the places in the tour.
A First Class tour. On time, clear explanations, plenty of free time, and no pressure to buy trinkets. Our Guide Sandro was superb. He speaks several languages and is very helpful, sociable, calm and friendly. Coach driver Joseph is a highly competent safe driver making the Coach part very comfortable. Excellent value for money and highly recommended.
