Word of advice, the beautiful photos I saw on Google reviews must have been taken in the summer. I went in March and definitely didn't see what I expected, everything was still in it'd winter slumber. Even though they're were no flowers the fountains themselves were interesting to look at. Along the plaza are some high-end stores as well like Tiffany's and Kate Spade. Cool place to chill and people watch.
We stopped here several times during our Christmas in NYC visit. It’s the place to be in New York in December. Problem is, everyone knows it, so everyone is there. Expect crowds. But expect spectacular views of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, the gardens, the skyline, and the Saks Fifth Avenue store. Amazing.
Rockefeller Center's Channel Gardens are awesome, right between Fifth and Lower Plaza, across from the rink and Prometheus. I was there in summer '24, loved it, went three times! And it's free! They're amazing with Christmas lights in winter, and perfect for relaxing and pics in spring/summer. You gotta check them out!
The fountains weren’t on due to it being cold but it was very pretty! But if you have other things in mind and it’s cold out it may be worth skipping.
The Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center are a peaceful escape right in the middle of Midtown. I visited in April, and the flowers were in full bloom. The narrow walkway between the buildings, lined with plants and fountains, felt calm and elegant. A lovely spot for a quiet stroll or just to sit and enjoy the view.
