Staatsstrasse 30, 3800 Sundlauenen, Switzerland
This locations it’s great and offer an Amazing view over the lake. Even if you don’t plan to visit the caves itself it’s really worth to stop by to admire the nature, the waterfalls and the view. On the top there’s a restaurant, toilets and the entrance of the caves itself. The ticket costs 20 CHF to adults. It’s an experience actually. The caves are around 1 km deep, and it’s well illuminated, with proper floor to walk in. You can even bring a pet like I’ve seen a dog on the leash, or even small kids. There are like some small lakes inside, some creeks and some stalagmites and stalactites. It’s fun but think once it’s done it’s something I won’t do in the next 5 years as nothing will change.
Spectacular place for both kids and adults. A place where you can hear the water singing within the caves. If you have a visitor card, then you will get a 15% discount; the Swiss pass won't cover this excursion. Can get here by either boat or car ( we drove and there are plenty of parking lot) Walk thru a few flight of stairs from the outside. In front of the cave, you can see Lake Thun. The ticket includes both the museum and the cave. Spend about 2-3 hrs if you don't just want to rush. This amount of time will allow you to fully enjoy the beauty of the cave. There are gift shops and coffee shops there as well. Dog is allowed but you have to pay like 10 swiss$ extra, which it isn't bad. It is cold and slippery inside the cave, so a light jacket and a good pair of shoes are helpful. There are information thru out the cave is fascinating.
An interesting caving experience. It's a moderate hike to get to the entrance, but there are plenty of scenic points to take a picture and rest. The cave itself has some lighting and plenty of grotto and stalactites. The waterfall runs through the cave and there's plenty of streams and vegetation as well. Once you exit the tour, there's a restaurant and snack shop with tables overlooking the lake. Well worth the entry fee and bus or boat ride there.
One of the most spectacular views I've ever witnessed! The caves were incredible and I went early in the morning so it felt like I had them all to myself ☺️ This place absolutely was like visiting a real life Rivendell and Moria!!! Absolutely worth the journey from Zurich!!!!
Fun quick stop! It's a shame we didn't make it in time to check out the caves. There are other trails to explore too. Parking is $7, so take your time to enjoy!
