One of the nicest museum in Indonesia with interesting fabrics on display. The ticket is also quiet cheap, IDR5,000 per person. But they can do better on the maintenance if I may say. Recommended to join the batik workshop ?

Cheap admission fee, free parking included. Fun and unique experience if you also join the batik workshop. The batik workshop was on a separate admission fee of 50K Rupiah. While the batik workshop is fun, the textile museum was just okay. They provide informative labels on each display item. However, I feel that the museum have not provide any interesting story on the history or development of Indonesian fabrics/textile.

I came here for the batik workshop, quite peacefully and it costs only 50k with many cute cats on site.

Location: Quite near to Tanah Abang. If you're using public transportation, get off at the Tanah Abang station and continue with minivan Jaklingko and get off at right in front of the museum (you can also walk, since it's not far from the train station, but since the sidewalk is so messy and crowded I wouldn't recommend it). Fee: quite cheap. Adult local tourist is charged 10K IDR on weekdays and 15K IDR on weekend. For international tourist, they charge 50K for weekend and weekdays. Ambience: Very serene, quiet, peaceful and might I say this museum is underrated. You can explore their main exhibition hall where they display most Indonesian textile collections or go to the Batik Gallery to see batik from all around indonesia. Typically there are not many visitors here even in the weekend so it's perfect if you want explore all their exhibitions. Interesting activity: there is a batik workshop at the museum where you can experience making your own batik and bring your craft home. The fee is 50k (for both locals and international tourist) and you'll be taught by the staff from A to Z. I'd say this is most interesting part of the museum and it's really worth to try. They close at 3pm so make sure you come early if you wanna try making your own batik as it takes at least an hour.

For any Batik lovers. Most beautiful batik collection, probably one of the best in Indonesia... was bit difficult to find when coming by train from Tanahabang station. Absolutely worth the visit.
