Jl. Pahlawan, Alun-alun Contong, Kec. Bubutan, Surabaya, Jawa Timur 60174, Indonesia
I experienced the most amazing hospitality today at the monument courtesy of the wonderful staff that work there. It all started when I accidentally entered the administration office looking for the museum. A young woman who spoke English fluently and personally escorted me to the museum while chatting with me. She mentioned that her colleagues inside could provide a guided tour as part of the 15,000 rupiah entrance fee. My guide, Dinar, was the best. She knew her history, adding so much context to the exhibits. She was personable, warm, funny, and the consummate host. She brought real life to my myseum experience. Make sure you stop at the information desk on the Museum's lower level to request a guide.
Yesterday, I got chance to travell in East Java for 4 days and 3 nights. Indeed for work not holiday or mudik ?. But, I took the time to visit this place the last day in Surabaya. So excited! I like historic site, museum. And this place save a lots of history. Although, just 30 minutes. So, great experience. Thanks for the chance ??
Entry to the museum is affordable (even for foreigners; there are different prices for foreigners and locals). Visiting this site gives you a profound appreciation for Indonesia’s fight for independence while enjoying its architectural beauty and engaging exhibits.
I love my visit to November Ten museum. The site has a lovely garden with statues of the past commanders or heroes of the war. Due to the hot and sunny weather, we quickly moved into the indoor museum. Next to the entrance of the indoor museum, you may ask for a tour guide to bring you around the museum. We later learnt the guide assigned to us was an intern to the museum and she has done a pretty good job in sharing with us the war and museum. I enjoyed the tour as it gives me a glimpse of resistance Indonesia has to go through to defend its land against the Dutch and British. The upper level of the museum display the real weapons of the war. We ended our visit with 10mins show to summarize the November 10 resistance. Overall it’s an enriching and educational visit.
A small museum under a part of the monument. Commemorating the independence struggles in Surabaya. Lots of information and artifacts from the colonial and post colonial era. Can complete a full tour in about an hour. The design and layout is old fashioned but nice.
