Leave your shoes outside (in the shade) before entering. I visited at a quiet time but it was great go have a look around. The ticket to go up the tower was R200 so has increased.

Jama Masjid(Delhi): "I'm eagerly anticipating my visit to the Jama Masjid in Delhi. The sheer scale of the mosque, with its towering minarets, evokes a sense of awe, especially considering the architectural brilliance of that era. Knowing that it offers such a vast space for prayer underscores its enduring significance as an iconic monument for countless individuals over the years." Entry is free for all.

Jama Masjid, located in the heart of Old Delhi, is one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in India. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century, the mosque is a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture, with massive domes, tall minarets, and a sprawling courtyard that can accommodate thousands of worshippers. Entry to the mosque is free, and you can walk around the vast courtyard, soak in the calm atmosphere, and admire the architectural beauty. The frontmost area of the mosque is reserved exclusively for prayers and is one of the most peaceful and soothing places within the complex. Visitors are expected to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering. Robes are also available on rent at the entrance if needed. For those seeking a little adventure and a breathtaking view of Old Delhi, there's an option to climb to the top of the southern minaret for a small fee. The narrow spiral staircase might be a bit challenging, but once you reach the top, you’re rewarded with a panoramic view of the chaotic yet charming cityscape of Delhi – an experience truly worth it. After your visit, exploring the surrounding lanes for food is a must. Just outside the mosque, you’ll find numerous eateries serving mouth-watering Mughlai cuisine. A special recommendation is the legendary butter chicken from Karim’s or Al Jawahar, both located within walking distance. The rich, creamy flavor paired with freshly baked naan makes for a delicious end to your cultural exploration. Whether you're a history buff, a foodie, or simply someone looking for peace amid chaos, Jama Masjid offers a complete experience – spirituality, heritage, stunning views, and unforgettable flavors. It's undoubtedly a must-visit spot when in Delhi.

This place boasts stunning architecture, meticulously maintained and exuding serenity. The atmosphere is peaceful and devotional, with prayers adding to the ambiance. The view from the top is breathtaking. Please note that modest dressing is required, avoiding sleeveless attire.
