Taman Fatahillah No.1, Pinangsia, Kec. Taman Sari, Kota Jakarta Barat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 11110, Indonesia
Finally, during 30 years, despite repeated visits to the city of Jakarta, I achieved my dream of going to this wonderful museum, through which the most important features of the history of the wonderful city of Jakarta are highlighted. I enjoyed very much what was inside this museum, and I will repeat the visit at another time to take more pictures.
It was fun and educational, indeed. I visited with my siblings, consisting of an adult, a college student, and a secondary-school student, I didnt pay attention to the entrance fee of each category, but we paid 25.000 IDR overall. The museum offers a detail explanation of the history of Jakarta, including the transitioning of its name from Batavia to its current name as well as the stories behind the change. There's a movie screening too, showcasing the history of Jakarta in more entertaining way though I should sit on the floor and the sound of the video is rather unclear ? But overall, I love the experience ?
An old museum in Oldtown Jakarta. You can learn about history of Jakarta here. Very complete, very artistic and original. You only have to pay 15000 or 5000 for students.
Wonderful place to know about Indonesia in the Batavia period. Classical architecture covered in white. Souvenir shop at the entrance had unique and cute stuff.
Visiting the Jakarta History Museum was a captivating journey through time. Situated in the heart of the old city, its location in a historic building added to its unique charm. The exhibits were fascinating, offering a glimpse into Jakarta's rich history. However, I couldn't help but feel that the artifacts deserved a more climate-controlled environment with air conditioning, especially given the tropical climate. Nonetheless, it was a memorable experience that I would recommend to anyone interested in delving into Jakarta's past. Additionally, they have a nice souvenir shop, perfect for taking home a piece of Jakarta's history.
