Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Indonesia is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the ninth largest mosque in the world in terms of worshipper capacity. Standing on 91,629 m2 (986,286 sq ft) of land, the Grand Mosque of Istiqlal is easily the largest mosque in Southeast Asia, with the capacity to host up to 120,000 pilgrims. The name 'Istiqlal' means 'independence' in Arabic, as it was built to commemorate Indonesian independence and meant to be the national mosque.

I was with 3 other guest from Korea, and on a tight schedule. We came to the tourist information center inside the mosque and a man guide us inside and give us tour for free. No need to pay, but donation is encouraged. It was a big place. Good to spent around 45 min to 1 hour to see around and take photos.

It's absolutely massive and feels really grand, but also super peaceful inside. You can definitely feel the history and importance of the place. Even if you're just casually strolling through Jakarta, it's worth a quick stop to check out the architecture and soak in the atmosphere

The mosque offers a spacious area for the congregation, which is a great advantage. However, the positioning of the pillars can make it difficult to see the mimbar. During peak times, such as when exiting, the space can become quite crowded. Additionally, enhancing the ventilation by ensuring all the fans are operational could greatly improve the comfort of visitors.
