This place is one of Melbourne's best kept secrets: a small island on the Yarra River between Richmond and South Yarra, with various sculptures nestled amidst native bushland, and only accessible by a small barge operated by Parks Victoria.

A special park only accessible with your own boat, or during certain parts of the year when Parks Victoria runs a punt service for free. We found the island a bit too overgrown (despite lots of volunteers in evidence doing weeding). I found the art ok, but not great. There are a couple of benches and two covered picknick tables. There is a small art gallery on the island, with toilets.

Very lucky to find this little gem 4.2 km from the Melbourne CBD. Parking along Alexandra Avenue or close to Como Landing where the punt ferry operates on Saturday and Sunday and public holidays from 11-4 pm. Free ferry as well as entry to the island. Opposite is a lovely cafe called Kanteen. As well as the walking paths there are sculptures and picnic and bbq facilities. There are also toilets and the old scout hall which is a gallery. Worth the visit in this cost of living crisis. Also note the island can be hired for private events.

Primarily visited the island to find the handful of geocaches located on it, but was pleasantly surprised at the general layout and things to see, very unique hidden place that I imagine a lot of Melburnians don't know exists. The punt to access was super quick, and the driver was a proper Aussie legend.

Hidden treasure, must visit this place, beautiful sculptures, trees, plants, there is a gallery that has original artwork available for purchase, there is also toilet facilities next to gallery, there is lots of places to have a rest, tables & benches, transport to & from at no charge.
