A must see if you are in Hanoi as this street is one of a kind! Cafe shops setup right next to the train tracks for a maybe 500m section of the Trainline. The coffee shops are bright and colourful with lanterns, lights, paintings and more to make the whole street feel magical. Train comes through every 4-5 hours so it not like you can't enjoy a peaceful coffee here, but if you do want to see the train go by then be sure to check times... I have seen the train go through as early as 11am but also as late as 11:45am so can be some delays. But nothing a few coffees or beers to help pass the time while you wait. When no trains are coming through you can freely walk on the tracks and everyone is super friendly and welcoming you into their cafe. I did not actually stop here for a drink but even though this clearly a tourist hot spot the prices did seem fairly reasonable where I did look. Loads of cats and dogs in the cafes all the way down the street so for animal lovers this is another bonus of the area.

This is as touristy as it gets but an experience nonetheless. I did not realize the train could get this close right till the moment it got next me. May 8th, 2025. I didn’t see any police stopping tourists from entering. I feel the best location is to the north part of the track where it makes a slight curve, creating a nice view of the train. I paid 40k for ice tea. Not bad.

Cute! Nice experience. The locals told us it would be more beautiful at night. We didn’t get the chance to see it, though. Anyway, we arrived at 7:30 AM cuz we thought that was the train schedule. Then a local told us we were too early —the train actually arrived at 9:00 AM. I guess there’s no fixed sched? ? So don’t rely on the internet, ask the locals instead. We had the place to ourselves. Most of the stores were closed, so we had the freedom to take photos. The food seemed average, but the coffee was consistently good. I love Hanoi’s coffee! No entrance fee. Just find a nice corner. Be early or you won’t get a good spot. Lastly, this place is nicer than the one in Thailand ?

We only had to wait for the train to come. No need to sit in a cafe, just enjoy the view of the train passing by. Peaceful and no need to splurge at the cafe too. Good experience. Just be safe and follow rules. If you're sitting at a cafe please be mindful. Cafe owners are there for your safety please listen to them.

Hanoi Train Street is a beautiful and unique place — both sides of the tracks are lined with food and drink stalls. I recommend going in the late afternoon so you can enjoy both the daylight and the view when the lights come on. Be sure to check the train schedule beforehand, or you might end up waiting a long time. It’s a great spot to experience how close the train gets, and don’t forget to grab a beer — it makes a fun souvenir!
