Beautiful statue and nice plaza. There's a market here every Sunday with a huge selection but it is typically very busy.
Over all the old town very nice vibes and a lot of market there and restaurants It’s cheaper place but the transportation to there it’s difficult ? as well there the central bus station
It's a statue of the dragon. Had a park nearby. Saw a huge urn, no joss sticks sold nearby though. Gotta bring your own I guess.
The island's protector, the golden dragon, is located at the entrance to Queen Sirikit Park. According to Chinese legend, Phuket is a golden sea dragon - it can be seen on the granite slab next to it. Many believing residents of the island, come here, bringing as a gift to the statue various ritual paraphernalia, incense, candles, asking for protection and good luck. The statue was erected in 2006, in honor of the 60-year reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and the park was built in 2004 - in honor of 72 years of Queen Sirikit. It's an interesting place, worth coming here to take good and interesting photos. In the evening, the statue is illuminated and becomes more beautiful and majestic. Completely beautiful golden statue, and with some entertainment from the local taxi drivers nearby playing a kind of HackeySack with a larger harder reed like ball. If you walk through the nearby park and cross the main road you get to Indy Market where there are independent market stalls and local events. We saw the end of a few bands of kids from a rock school, some of the young musicians were amazing.
