Been up to Gunung Raya twice by motorbike. The road leading up is long and winding through the jungle where you can see several monkeys and friendly dogs. The first time I made it before sunrise was misty and remained so until around 8.30am so I didn’t get much of a view… but the place seemed like an eerie scene from a horror movie; there is what seems to be an abandoned hotel at the top and I still enjoyed the ambience. The second time round the mist cleared up earlier and views are quite simply amazing :) worth a drive up if you have time just for the views, probably best not too early in the morning… the sunset might be a super time to visit :)

Visited during sunrise. Very peaceful and calm. You can spend 30-40 minutes here. Although sunrise is behind the mountain you will not see a great view of it.

Get close to the beauty of nature, come up and blow a cool breeze and see the scenery of langkawi. Good experience.

Gunung Raya located on Langkawi Island, Kedah, Malaysia has an altitude of 881 meters. Gunung Raya has a Hill Dipterocarp forest and an Upper Dipterocarp forest. There are many flora on this mountain that have medicinal value.I take a ride with motorcycle.It take about 15 minutes to reach upside and the scenery very beautiful.Can see all Langkawi island

The place was shut when I arrived on the top. I’m giving 4 stars only for the drive up to the mountain. Also I spotted some Gibbon Monkeys which was a pleasant surprise.
