The Ghibli museum was smaller than a regular museum, but it was so thought-out with beautiful little details throughout. We were unable to take photographs inside, but the outside was just as beautiful! We loved it! We parked easily in the park nearby and did not wait long to enter. We had purchased our tickets in advance, I don’t believe they have walk-up tickets. Definitely visit the gift shop and cafe. The weather was perfect that day as well.

After 10 years of living in Japan, I finally visited the Ghibli Museum with my friends. We went towards the end of the day, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect given all the hype and praise it receives. As someone who enjoys Ghibli films but isn’t a die-hard fan, I found the experience pleasant but not mind-blowing. The museum is fascinating, especially for those interested in the mechanics of animation — it’s a wonderful place for kids to explore and learn. However, the overall space is smaller than I anticipated. The exclusive short films they screen monthly are fun and creative, but keep in mind there’s no English subtitles, which might be challenging if you don’t understand Japanese. One thing to note — even though photos and videos are strictly prohibited inside the museum, some visitors still break the rules, which can be quite annoying and distracting from the experience. On a positive note, I have to say their bathrooms are surprisingly exquisite and impressive — definitely worth a mention! Overall, it’s a good visit, especially if you’re a fan of Miyazaki’s work or curious about the animation process. Just keep your expectations in check. For a 1,000 yen ticket, it’s definitely worth seeing at least once.

This place was amazing!! 10/10 would definitely come again. The only con is that it's too popular so it's going to be hard to get tickets. You have to snatch them right away when they release them or else it gets sold out. The museum itself was not hard to get to and the staff there was really friendly. People of all races and everyone spoke English. The museum itself is great for anyone that is a Ghibli fan. Otherwise this might not be the place for you. The sets and details inside are really fun and the artwork and film pieces are all really amazing too see in person. You are not allowed to take pictures inside unfortunately. They give you a really nice souvenir film strip and in total I think we spent about 2 hours there.

I came here before in 2006 and came back again in 2025. The biggest change was the number of foreign visitors. There used to be fewer visitors so you could leisurely enjoy the museum, but now there are a lot of foreigners and it is crowded. Admission tickets are sold in advance for a limited number of people, so there are no same-day tickets available. Check the website. Miyazaki Movies are fantastic and you can enjoy how he draws his animation. And most enjoyable thing was the movie theater where you can watch the short Ghibli movie especially only at this museum. Must watch it when you get there. Also enjoyed the small cafe and you talk about the movies and his animation with your family or friends ? No photos inside the museum.

If you are a fan of Ghibli studio, this is a place to visit. Fortunately I got the ticket thanks to a local friend to help to purchase online in advance. I was there to queue for around 10 minutes to enter the museum. The place is very cute, having 3 floors showcasing the products of the studio, shops selling souvenir and we got to enjoy a short movie time. Very nostalgic. No photos are allowed inside the museum, so I can only take a few pictures outside the museum.
