On the 18th of August 1917 His Excellency Sir Hamilton Goold-Adams GCMG unveiled this Canon, a Trophy of the First World War. It was presented to Queensland by His Majesty King George V at the request of Hon. T.J. Ryan (QLD Premier) through Lord Kitchener. The gun is a Krupp 7.7 cm Feldkanone 96 n.A. Made by Krupp in Germany in 1898 and upgraded in 1907. It is stamped as gun number 2381. In 1915 it was captured from the German Army in France during the First World War and kept as a war trophy.
