nothing much to do here but it’s nice to take a walk and enjoy the different clan jetties by the coast. please be considerate as there are still locals who live in these houses. be careful as well as many of these jetties do not have railings installed

An interesting look into the ancient and modern living of local people. A lot of people moved away when they were bombed during the war and never returned. However they still remain very popular with local people as a place to live. Some are not as well maintained or clean as others.

Interesting to see how people live out on the water. Went to the Chew jetty, which had more shops than anything else to capitalize on the tourists. There are probably other jetties that can give more info and history, but didn't have time to check them all out.

The Clan Jetties consist of villages with residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town, Penang. Each neighborhood is owned by residents of a specific Chinese clan: Ong, Lim, Chew, Tan, Lee, Mixed Clan and Yeoh jetties. It is part of the Georgetown UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is well preserved till today and has become one of the tourist destinations in Penang. The houses are built above the seawater and is connected through wooden walkway. At each clan village, there are not only local houses to be viewed. At some houses, they also offer local delicacies and souvenirs. Some Chinese temples can be found here. Visitors may also take numerous pictures with beautiful water village as background. These clan jetties are situated along the Pangkalan Weld Road. Visitors may take Rapid Penang buses to Jetty/Weld Quay Bus Terminal. From this bus terminal, it is within 5-minute walking distance to these clan of jetties. E-hailing service can be used to reach this place as well.
