Hiking Bukhansan during autumn was an unforgettable experience. The trail I chose offered breathtaking views of the vibrant autumn foliage, with shades of red, orange, and yellow painting the entire landscape. The crisp air and cool weather were perfect for hiking. The hike itself was moderately challenging, especially near the summit, but it was manageable with proper footwear and a steady pace. The well-maintained trails and clear signage made navigation easy, even for first-timers. Along the way, I passed a mix of serene forested areas and rocky paths, which kept the hike interesting. Reaching the summit was the highlight of the hike. The panoramic views of Seoul and the surrounding mountains were absolutely worth the effort. The contrast between the bustling city in the distance and the peaceful nature around was striking.

Amazing experience!! Strongly recommended for all hiking lovers to hike to the peak! I hiked in winter and the hike was tiring but the view was spectacular. If you're planning to do the same, you will NEED (!!) hiking shoes and crampons. It has nothing to do with level of fitness but everything to do with safety. Paths are covered in snow/ice and it can be very slippery. If you're a tourist, you can Google for rental shops nearby. Their prices are very reasonable. I haven't tried hiking in other seasons but I'll be keen to try it out next time. The park is well kept and paths were marked. There aren't many toilet stops along the way- maybe only 2 (at the base and 1/3 way up). Area is generally clean without much visible litter - kudos to all hikers and park rangers for keeping the place clean!

It's good to be prepared in advance before taking on this hike as it can take quite a long time, depending on the destination, and the routes can be challenging. Also, we tried to approach some temples that we came across en route, but the guard dogs came barking and chasing, so we couldn't get close to them.

Very beautiful park. Going up to the gate and back takes 3-4 hrs with very steep stairs. You need proper hiking shoes, water, some snacks.

It’s such a big park, there was no way we would be able to hike it all. It would take days. Our uber ride to the entrance was $22 from Youngsan station area. If you’re hiking in the summer - it’s a very steep hike and very hot - bring lots of water. The humidity is out of this world. Loved it and I’d go again.
