Bada Gumbad is a majestic monument situated inside the Lodhi Gardens complex. Constructed in 1490 by the Lodhi dynasty, it just might be a first example of full dome construction. It follows an Indo Islamic Architecture style. The interesting thing is though it is a single storey structure, it looks like a double storey when viewed from the outside. The place is very crowded during weekends as it's not a ticketed monument. You will find many school children coming for a picnic during winters too. The best day to visit is on a weekday. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.

To be frank, I didn’t visit BADA GUMBAD exactly; I had gone there for a picnic which was laid out just behind Bada gumbad. But it’s a lovely old monument, it truly feels like one…
