You need to take the metro line 9 all the way to Sheshan and then you may either bike, walk or take a bus. It is around 4 stops and then you can get in the entrance of the park. Hiking is quite short but you will enjoy a great scenery. The site has been recently renovated so it is extremely nice to walk around inyo the bamboo forest!
It kind get kind of busy during the weekends thoigh.
The basilica is now with glass stained windows and some painting!
Very cool because I had not been back for the last 5 years.
I totally recommend that place for something a bit off the track!

佘山附近的松江、青浦一帶天主教傳入很早，在長達100多年的禁教時期，橫塘、張朴橋等村莊的天主教徒一直在地下狀態保持着自己的信仰。1844年，天主教在中國恢復合法地位後，江南代牧區的法籍耶穌會會長南格祿來到佘山，認為這裏滿山竹林，環境幽靜，可以在這裏為傳教區年老體弱的傳教士建造一座祈禱所。南格祿於1856年去世。1863年，繼任的法籍耶穌會會長鄂爾璧從徐家匯來到佘山，在半山建造了五間供神父休養的平房，內設小堂。1864年，松江總鐸杜若蘭神父在山頂建造六角亭，供奉聖母像。山下張朴橋等地教徒開始上佘山朝聖。
1868年3月1日，江南代牧區主教郎懷仁祝聖了小堂和聖母像。這尊聖母像是由一位中國輔理修士陸省三模仿巴黎「勝利之後聖母像」而繪製的，改稱為「進教之佑聖母」。1868年5月24日（聖母進教之佑瞻禮日），佘山來了數百名朝聖的教徒。當時小堂無法容納，只好搭起帳篷舉行彌撒。

Catholicism was introduced to the Songjiang and Qingpu areas near Sheshan very early. During the more than 100-year ban on Christianity, Catholics in Hengtang, Zhangpuqiao and other villages maintained their faith underground. In 1844, after the legal status of Catholicism was restored in China, Nanglo, the French Jesuit president of the Jiangnan Vicariate, came to Sheshan. He thought that the mountain was full of bamboo forests and the environment was quiet, and he could build a prayer house here for the elderly and infirm missionaries in the mission area. Nang Lu died in 1856. In 1863, Erbi, the succeeding French Jesuit president, came to Sheshan from Xujiahui and built five bungalows with chapels for priests to rest in the middle of the mountain. In 1864, Father Du Ruolan, the rector of Songjiang, built a hexagonal pavilion on the top of the mountain to enshrine the statue of Our Lady. Believers from Zhangpuqiao and other places under the mountain began to make pilgrimages to Sheshan.
On March 1, 1868, Bishop Lang Huairen of Jiangnan Vicariate consecrated the chapel and the statue of Our Lady. This image of Our Lady was painted by a Chinese auxiliary monk Lu Shengsan, imitating the "Our Lady of Victory" in Paris, and was renamed "Our Lady of Blessing of the Faith". On May 24, 1868 (the feast day of Our Lady of Blessings), hundreds of pilgrims came to Sheshan. At that time, the chapel could not accommodate the mass, so a tent was set up to hold mass.

Sheshan is located in Songjiang District, Shanghai, China, and is divided into West Sheshan and East Sheshan. West Sheshan Mountain has an altitude of 100.8 meters (it was calibrated as 99 meters before 2004) (some say 97 meters). It is the second highest peak in Shanghai and the highest peak on land in Shanghai; East Sheshan Mountain has an altitude of 72.4 meters. Sheshan is the back garden of Shanghai. As a famous suburban scenic spot in Shanghai, Sheshan is now located in Sheshan National Forest Park. There is a famous Catholic pilgrimage site on Sheshan - Notre Dame Cathedral of Sheshan. There are also Xiudaozhe Tower, Sheshan Earthquake Base Station, Sheshan Moon Lake and Sheshan Observatory.

腳程快的話從路口走到山頂大概十分鐘的小廢山~~四捨五入叫小土丘，約農曆新年初三過去的人多到爆，連假沒事幹大家都來踏青，但這裡上海的冬天真的很漂亮
