Over the weekend my family went out to celebrate my sister's birthday. We're all huge fans of Korean food so we decided to try something new at Hanok since it just got halal-certified. ?
Address: #01-07 Westgate, 3 Gateway Drive, Singapore 608533 (Halal-certified!)
Most Korean places in Singapore sell Korean fried chicken, but Hanok is the only place you can find Halal Korean stews and soups! ? You can even choose extra toppings for the stew like tteokbokki ( $2) rice cakes. I've had the beef stew ($18.80) before - super rich broth, and the soy broth was quite sweet!
This time I tried the Beef Rib Soup ($16.80) and shared the portion with my mum. It comes in a 2 pax serving - worth it if you're eating with a friend! There's also radish and egg in the soup but the beef really blew me away. It was super soft and tender - I almost wanted to buy a 2nd serving ?
My family also ordered the Seafood Beef Stew ($38.80) - it comes as a double portion as well but all 5 of us took a little bit of it too. The squid was huge and we ordered spicy level 2 out of 4. Not as spicy as we liked but the broth was nice and hearty! ?
Of course we tried the sides too. I think this squid and leek pancake ($14.80) was the best I've ever had. Super crispy and crunchy, with chewy squid and a strong taste of leek. You must try this for sure!! Just wish the soy sauce it came with was a bit spicier ?
Total cost for 5 people (4 mains, 2 sides, 2 jugs of drinks) was around $150. Not the cheapest place around - it's actually worth it if you're in a group but pretty expensive solo. But the dishes are all super good and the service is quite attentive and fast. ?
Overall, 7.5/10 - worth a try at least once since it's a unique dish you can't find anywhere else in Singapore.
