Set within a former kimono merchant's home in Kurashiki's perfectly preserved historical quarter, Yoruya is a private and quietly luxurious stay. The team behind this ryokan preserved the building's century-old structure while introducing clean lines, soft textures, and a sense of modern calm. With just a few rooms, an intimate dining experience, and crafted details throughout, it feels more like a private retreat than a hotel. Something that will linger with you for a long time. I had a wonderful time.

Exceptional in every way, and easily one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in! Our two maisonettes were both beautifully appointed, and the private onsen baths in each were like nothing I've ever seen. The hotel itself is spectacular, and the level of detail is off the scale. And that's before I even mention the beautiful bar serving fantastic cocktails, sake, and wine, and the extraordinary restaurant, which served us the best Japanese kaiseki courses for dinner, and traditional breakfast, that we've ever eaten. The whole hotel is a tour de force of how to offer a level of unmatched quality and service, and a truly special place. Midori-san, Chef Fumio-san and his masterful team, Jun-san, and the rest of the Yoruya staff (I'm sorry that I can't remember everyone's names!) made my parents and I feel incredibly welcome and well looked after. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, in fact I intend to do so again as soon as I can! We could not recommend Yoruya more highly.

The rooms were really pretty and had nice courtyard. Service was good! Thank you! And the food was the highlight! Amazing home made everything (from the sauces to the salt to the mochi), the flavours were interesting and put a new spin on the classics. The sauces elevated the sashimi. Recommended to have a stay here to unwind.

An incredible stay in Kurashiki! The hotel is nestled in a beautifully renovated traditional Japanese house, showcasing stunning wabi-sabi aesthetics. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful — they even kept our luggage after checkout so we could continue exploring the town at ease. We only stayed one night but wished we had more time. In the evening, we enjoyed a sake tasting at the cozy hotel bar, guided by the waitress’s great recommendations, a real treat. All the food, including the hotel snacks and drinks, is locally sourced. The Japanese breakfast was both healthy and delicious. A truly memorable experience, we couldn’t recommend it more!
