55 Myeongdong-gil, Myeong-dong 1(il)-ga, Jung District, Seoul, South Korea
The location is perfect especially if you're planning to do lots of tourist-y things. Nearby multiple subway lines such as 3, 2, or 4. Room: I had a private twin room with bathroom. -Clean bathroom, relatively clean room. The walls are a bit dirty from most likely suitcase wheel marks (?) -no soap or toothpaste but provides shampoo and body wash -provides reusable slippers for room and bathroom (it's a wet bathroom) -enough space for 2 people -space for 4 suitcases standing up or 2-3 suitcases standing up and 1 constantly open -the bed is slippery (?) -ac + heater a dream combo Facility: -ample towels (just ask front desk) -elevator! A must for suitcases! (but the main entrance has about 5 to 6 steps before you reach the elevator) -relatively quiet -washer + dryer on each floor -water dispenser on each floor -idk about the breakfast, I went out to eat because there are loads of spots nearby -they clean every 4th day if requested, I prefer to clean my own room, I had my own travel cleaning supplies. So unsure how well the continued stay cleaning is. The front desk was nice as long as you are equally respectful. Most know enough English to help. There was some who were fluent. Cleaners WILL IGNORE YOU or just do a small nod as a greeting. That's normal in hotels/hostels here. Don't expect all smiles. They are doing their job. I didn't notice any specific smell? So that's a plus. I'd come back here again for the price tag. Wouldn't use the shared rooms tbh because of the possible horror stories. That's something the place cannot control but besides that. Pretty solid. 4.5/5. Hope I get the same room if I do.
This hotel is center of a busy street food. Excellent choice for location and near train stations. there are 3 olive young stores within 3 minutes walking and endless food options. Room was very clean. Staff were amazing at checking us in. Breakfast, love that it ends at 10 rather than typical hotels that end at 9. Food was plain western food (toast, peanut butter, spam, cereal, coffee, orange juice, milk) but you do need to wash your own dishes after you are done. The common space where you eat is very lively and many people hang out there in the afternoon, really easy to make friends. Hotel was not so hard to find but it is mixed in a building with other business so just pay attention. The shower door did not close properly so the water kept splashing outside the bathroom. Someone was drinking coffee during breakfast hours and using his laptop in the common space and a staff told him that he cannot use it until after breakfast hours but the next day someone else was on their laptop during breakfast hours and the same staff did not say anything. The staff was not fair.
Staying here put us in the center of all the action. Beside the hotel building is Olive Young and Butter, in front of the hotel is Myeongdong Cathedral, CU convenience store, HBAF, Starbucks, Leonidas. The hotel is within the Myeongdong street food lane. You do not need to get far to enjoy the street food. Bus stops, train stations are also 200-300m away. Breakfast is decent, with unlimited water and coffee. Staff can speak English and accommodating. We also got a nice city view in our room. Highly recommended.
