Our first time to Shanghai and we were wowed by this hotel. The service is above and beyond. The restoration of these historic homes into hotel living was very well done and we loved the neighborhood. We will be back. Shout out to Michael at the bar for his innovative cocktails!

Capella Shanghai provides the most amazing hospitality, and the experience here is truly unforgettable. Both the room and food are one of a kind. I highly recommend anyone who visits Shanghai to stay at this astonishing hotel.

Wonderful stay at Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li. Enjoyed the old charm and the architectural essence of the Shikumen Garden Villa. The interior was elegantly decorated from the front courtyard, parlour to the cosy bedroom. Great sleep quality - decent bed and bedsheets, and the surroundings were pretty quiet. Superb personalised service by the Front Desk team from the moment we checked in.

Capella is definitely our top choice for our visit to Shanghai. This hotel truly feels like home! The unique Shikumen architecture, perfect location, and incredibly thoughtful service made our three-day stay so comfortable that we didn’t want to leave. Every staff member here feels like family or a personal butler: Thomas Zhao, Martin, Attica (not sure about the spelling), and Yilei. Their warm and attentive service made us feel completely relaxed and comfortable. Although we didn’t catch all the names of the staff, it’s clear that the entire team is exceptional. The restaurant service was also very thoughtful. For us, Capella is more than just a hotel; it’s an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking top-tier service!

We stayed in the hotel, but this review is for the Chinese-style massage from Mr. Liu. It's probably too much of a hyperbole to say that it was life changing, but it was very very good. I've gotten a lot of massages in life - from deep tissue to Ayurvedic, and never have all my little pricks and pain been gone after an hour long massage. Until now. It's based on Chinese Traditional Medicine principles. The pressure wasn't strong, but somehow, it got all the knots out. Highly recommend.
