The hotel has an amazing location in a charming area and is placed right next to a tram stop that takes you to the CBD. The rooms are cute and clean. Overall the staff is super friendly and the accommodation manager Davinia made me feel so warm and welcomed! She helped me switch around rooms, made sure I was taken care of my whole stay and it was always nice to run into her in the hallways because of her sweet and friendly attitude. Would recommend til place for sure!
Went there for dinner tonight. I believe it was Jason? Who served us. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. My daughter has food allergies and he made sure there was absolutely no gluten in the food. We had the Steak and Barramundi..Omg so tasty! And love the crunchy potatoes.
Had a old boys catch up at the Derby ,in the function space near the bar ,atmosphere was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meals . Manager Liam and his staff were very friendly and attentive ,had an excellent selection of beers on tap and wines were fairly priced, great accessible location for tram or taxi live footy and a great outdoor garden. Will definitely return to this traditional Melbourne pub
Recently held my 30th in the function room at the Royal Derby Hotel. I could not recommend the space more highly, Liam was a delight to deal with from the beginning and super flexible with all my requests. The catering and service on the evening was commended by all guests.
Quite a nice room at a nice location. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Around 15 to 20 minutes to Parliament station by tram or 40 to 45 minutes by foot. The entrance might be a little hard to find, especially at night. There's no wardrobe or anywhere to hang your clothes. Toilets do not have the ventilation duct so the corridor can smell nasty after someone used it. There are bars downstairs and nearby so the place can get pretty loud on Friday and Saturday nights. Earplugs are provided. Hair dryer is provided. Washing machine and dryer and washing powder provided. Nowhere to hang dry your clothes. The place uses PIN code access so no need to hold on to a key card. 1H street parking outside. 4H parking if you walk north a few minutes. If you stay more than a week, they change your linen, although I would prefer to be given notice at least the day prior before they came knocking while I was still in bed in the morning. They did give notice but it was just very early in the morning itself. One thing I cannot get over is the lack of recycling bin. I've stayed for quite some time and spent so much time separating my recycles from my regular thrash just for the cleaning lady to say "No worries just give it to me" and then throw the bags of recyclable items I collected into the bag with regular waste.
