We went for 4 nights, snorkelling only. Which was plenty as it a small island. The snorkelling is great, but you do have to swim a lot to get to the best spots. The food was also great, there were only 4 guests on the island but the chef cooked a spread of dishes of his choosing each mealtime- we enjoyed it and did not go hungry, but picky eaters may struggle. 1.5gb internet allowance was included.
A perfect relaxing end to my vacation in Malaysia. A speed boat 80 minutes depending on the weather transfers you from Sandakan jetty to the island which is this tiny speck you can walk around in 25 minutes. As soon as you debark the boat, they take you to the main dining hut which is built over the water to give you a refreshment and to go over the rules of the island. As you walk over I was impressed by how clear the water is and the abundance of fish and turtles! From your smaller quarters youncan swim out from the beach depending on water level. I loved observing the turtles eating the seagrass on bottom of floor. My first swim out in saw 4 turtles. The last day the released baby turtles to the ocean. The food was great. If you take your family no worries as there are more western kid options for children. There is a small military installation so I felt safe. The service was great. You can scuba, snorkel, and kayak. Definitely a bucket list trip and would go again. This was perfect end as I also took a short trip to the rain forest prior.
What an amazing place. Absolute paradise. My wife and I are not divers but went there purely to take up the beautiful location and chill out after having an adventure of a lifetime in Borneo. We had the pleasure of seeing Green turtles laying eggs and seeing baby turtles being released into the sea. If you ever have the opportunity to visit please do so you will never regret it..
This is the paradise! We had a fantastic time at Lankayan Island. The staff was extremely welcoming and open-hearted. The dive crew did their best to show us around the reefs and wrecks. There are a lot of turtles around the resort that you can observe and if you are lucky, you can follow a turtle hatching and releasing. Even we saw some small sharks around the resort during our evening drink at the beautiful and cozy main buidling. Pick-up and drop-off worked with no issues with an incredibly good service. We would definitely book again.
I would have given 10stars for this island. No, Im not joking. My 3D2N stays at this Island was all - how would I describe it “worth every penny spent”. Imagining with short span of time, luck is on our side. A group of 10 of us basically had the whole Island to ourselves. A turtle conservatory Island, we witnessed 4 x hatchings, 1 turtle nesting on a low tide night, glad the strong wind came, some light rain somehow makes the sea slightly choppy thus allowed one turtle crawl up to nest. I was lucky somehow to rescue one and only Hawksbill baby turtle that wandering nearby my unit. That gorgeous little one makes my heart leap with joy, such rare one, none the same like the rest we released back to sea. Since it was hot and sunny, I couldn’t snorkel when I saw the presence of jelly fish. My friends and I adopted 1 turtle nest at conservatory. We just hope that all baby turtles had better chances in life though it was said the chances of survival falls at 1/1000. I saw some small sharks swimming nearby after dinner and turtles swimming lazily too. Sea cucumber, purplish starfish hugging a stone, some anchovies, some pools of fish too. This was my second visit. First at 2011. Never regretted. My friends thanked us for introducing this Island to them. This is the best holiday destination for me this year. I love you Lankayan Island! I shall be back soon!
