I just had a family lunch here, so I can't tell you what the rooms were like. But if I had the guess the rooms are all pretty immaculate and beautiful. As far as the food goes, it's very traditional, with English menus, decent portions, and it was all delicious. There's plenty to staff that's able to help you and quite a few of them do speak English. Down in B1, they do do tours. A lot of it is in English. So if you have a day to kill and you want to look at some beautiful scenery, in a very historic famous location. This is a perfect spot for you! Give this place a visit!

This lovely hotel boasts a rich and captivating history. It's situated slightly above the city, much like a prized jewel overlooking Taipei. The night cityscape viewed from our suite was truly breathtaking. ?The service was both professional and efficient, with every staff member displaying kindness and a warm welcome. Our double twin-bed room, located in the building's right wing, featured two double beds and a well-appointed bathroom complete with a bathtub and a generously sized shower. The old and classic interior was luxurious and pristine. ?The private balcony was a highlight! During our April stay, we were pleased to find minimal insects. ?Standard amenities included two bottles of water, shampoo, and shower gel. And toothbrushes and razors were not provided for eco policy. While I understand the age of this hotel, I still think some amenities needs upgrade (the hair dryer, quality of shampoo and shower gel), where I missed the previous 3 star hotel at some point here and there. Amenities were not meeting 5 stars standard. ?The hotel's location is distant from Ximending, airport and the main train stations; however, its proximity to the Shilin Night Market is an advantage. ?The hotel also offers a complimentary, spacious shuttle service to Yuanshan Station, which we utilized frequently. A shuttle to Jiantan is also available on weekends, though we were unable to take advantage of it. Airport shuttle is extra! In short, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel for one night. While this hotel is not a modern, most comfortable and accessible place to stay, the stunning views, exceptional service, and historical context made it a memorable experience.

The Grand Hotel Taipei is a truly unique and iconic place to stay. The room was very spacious, with a huge balcony offering great views of the city. The entire hotel is decorated in traditional Chinese style, featuring massive red columns, intricate wood carvings, and a majestic, palace-like atmosphere. It felt like staying in a piece of history — not just a hotel, but a cultural experience. The room was comfortable, and the overall ambiance made it a memorable part of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates heritage architecture or wants to experience a more traditional side of Taiwan.
