This hostel is not a typical backpacker option as it serves as cafe/restaurant and sauna. This gives the place a fresh and modern look, which I can confirm by seeing the proper cleaning the staff did during the day. The personal space is plenty, however luggage area in the dormitory is quite limited. Further, no amenities are included such as towel, toothbrush etc. But this is expected based on the low price, and is in line with peers. I had a particularly good experience from the people working there which reminded me of a family. Very helpful, friendly and inviting. This was truly welcomed and raised my rating to 5 stars. Lastly, the area is calmer with good transportation options. The Ginza line is however about 1km away if you need to take that one. But otherwise you have everything you need. Recommended!

By the time I arrived at Focus Kuramae, I was already well-versed with the quality of hostels in Japan. They aren't your typical party-places with loud music and compromised washrooms... they are in a class of their own. Super clean, silent, organized, everything you'd dream of if you're looking for a place you can truly rest, while finding amazing humans to interact with. . But Focus Kuramae was different. Apart from being a great hostel, it turned out to be a deeply emotional experience. Every night, a few of us would sit, start talking, and continue till morning. These nights are going to be remembered for a lifetime. In fact one of the managers of the hostel, Megu, was also a part of our group. . Such was the bond between us all that I am sure we are going to be friends for life, even if we don't manage to see each other for years to come. Klemens, Mohammed, Megu, Camille, Matti... what a time we had. See you when I see you :) . And Focus Kuramae... it's the place to BE. Don't even think about it. Just go. Stay. You'll have the best time.

Great stay at Focus Kuramae. We stayed 4 nights, in both a private room and dorms. Both were clean, well setup, quiet and comfortable. The amenities are also great, with showers and toilets super clean and well setup and the common room with all the equipment needed to store your goods in the fridge and cook if you'd like. Would definitely recommend if you want to stay in a cute and quiet area walking and easy transit distance from tourist attractions.

Extremely modern looking and clean hostel. Comfy beds and amazing staff make it even better for solo traveling. Will definitely return next time I’m around
