615 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Just finished a 2 night getaway at the Dorsett. This hotel is in a great location in the city, the train stations are easily accessible and there’s lots of places to visit and grab a bite to eat. First impressions were great, as you walk on the lobby there is a really nice scent throughout. All the furnishings feel luxurious. There is a self check in stand which seemed cool to use, unfortunately the room cards weren’t working so we had to get the staff at reception to do for us, a bit unfortunate. Breakfast is $30pp of pre booked on arrival and $39pp if not booked. The breakfast was nice however not too many staff for how busy it was in the morning at around 9am. The coffee machine needed to be emptied and no staff noticed, which caused a queue waiting for someone to fix, until we asked for help. I tried some scramble eggs and they were ok, nothing exceptional. There is a gym and swimming pool on the upper floors, I haven’t used them but had walked around and they look nice, the gym equipment is the same as my local gym which is nice. The service I would say is ok. Upon checking out the guy at reception helped us but there was no warm friendly service like thanking us for staying there etc. This would have made a difference. Overall a great stay but the lack of service makes me want to explore other options next time.
Lovely hotel with everything we needed. The diva room was small but in a cosy way. It’s TV and room service were easy to access. I will note that the bathroom walls were a cloudy glass, so you could kind of see the person in the shower from the bed/room…which I liked to be honest. The pool facilities were very well maintained, often the spas in hotels will have faults or not get warm enough…but this one was divine. The steam room was a very much appreciated addition as well. This hotel has no smoking facilities within but my husband made use of the big, open, courtyard, just to the left of the front door. It’s not exactly a perk of the hotel itself, but it’s a benefit not had by most hotels in the CBD Overall I had a pleasant two night stay here, I would certainly recommend. *Big thanks for the complimentary Expedia Silver perk bottle of wine, sourced from the Adelaide hills. A bottle from my home certainly helped the home-sickness while in big city Melbourne!
