Lafonce, No 37 2nd Fengcheng Road, Xi'an, China
Located in the northern district of the ancient city, brand new and very modern, not your old school Courtyard back in the states. The neighborhood is quiet and only 15 min from the Xi’an ancient city wall and about 1 hour from the Qing dynasty terracotta warriors museum. To getting to the city it is best to hail taxi or DiDi rather than the metro since it would take you 15 min just to walk to the nearest station. The breakfast buffet was excellent and staff were friendly.
My wife and I stayed at the Marrioot X'ian North in Oct 2018 for 5 nights. The checkin representatives are friendly as well as the greeters outside. They do a fine job straigthening out your room, replacing fresh towels/linens if that was to your choosing. We had our breakfast downstairs only once. We felt that the Executive Lounge Personnel were more personable. Our first visit, we met Sunny once, she was friendly, making sure we had what we needed for a satisfying breakfast. For the rest of the week, Crystal was smiling, very attentive to all the patrons. If we had any questions, she would quickly go to find the answer or ask someone who knew it. Tina was there to assist as well. The food served during breakfast and happy hour was OK. They do have different menu's daily which is nice. I would suggest they maybe keep the food hot warm by using a burner? Nevertheless, the food was tasty, with selections to choose from.
DISCLAIMER: THE GOOGLE MAPS LOCATION IS NOT ACCURATE. This isn't the fault of the hotel per se, although they could have claimed the property and fixed the address. Google maps shows its within the Xi'an city walls buts it's about 20 minutes taxi ride to the center of town (the bell tower). I attached a picture of where it actually is. On the plus side, it's closer to the airport. Honestly, you don't absolutely need to stay within the city walls. It is easy to walk to the subway station (shitushuguan stop) from the hotel at around 18 minutes and it's directly down the street so you don't need to make any turns. It's a good, clean hotel for the price. The executive lounge has limited happy hour food in comparison to Shanghai. The room is what you expect out of a courtyard in China. It would normally be a $150 room in the states but its much cheaper here.
Over many years, I stayed mostly at Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, Renaissance hotel, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and at quite a few Courtyard by Marriott in various states in US and in several other countries outside of US. This is by far the best Courtyard experience I had. The staffs are polite and attentive. The hotels and rooms are well maintained and very clean. The lounge was comfortable and the food was tasty.
