Perfect location. Friendly service. Parking was cheap and can access in and out as many times as you need. Pool is great and always supplies fresh towels. We had a family room. Rooms are big and perfectly separated from the kids
;-) No view and not much light in the rooms and a bit dated.
But bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Atlantis Hotel

Great value and convenient location opposite Spencer street station. Hotel decor was a bit dated but we did have a comfortable stay.

We had a room facing out the back of the building. The rooms are basic but clean and quiet enough. Breakfast buffet was included in our room price. It was simple but ample (all you can eat cereal, toast, scrambled eggs and baked beans). Overall good value for the price.

I had a really disappointing experience at this hotel.
I originally booked a 3-night stay and was looking to extend for another 3 nights. Before making any decisions, I asked the front desk if there were any benefits for extending my stay directly with them. They told me I would receive a room upgrade, so I agreed and extended my stay.

However, it turned out that the room I was already staying in was actually the best room in the hotel. They said there was nothing to upgrade to. If they had been honest about this from the beginning, I might have considered other options. But instead, they just told me to book online and let them know after — without explaining the full situation.

As a traveler who doesn’t speak English as a first language, I went back to the reception to clarify the details. The male staff member made me feel embarrassed with his rude and dismissive attitude, almost implying that I couldn’t understand English. He was especially cold and unkind in the way he spoke to me.

The location is great, and the hotel itself is fine, but don’t expect good customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re hoping for helpful or respectful staff.

The room cleanliness was okay at the first glance, however, if looked closely it can be noticed it actually wasn't very clean.
Found various stuff from previous guests behind the night stand and bed, all covered in quite a decent amount of dust indicating the general cleanup of rooms does not happen very often .
Shower and ceiling full of mould.
Breakfast with very small food choice, however at small extra cost so understandable.

Staying here for 6 nights – and this is just the first night, but it’s already been quite disappointing!

The room had an EXTREMELY unpleasant smell upon arrival, particularly the fridge – it genuinely smelt like someone had vomited inside! We also found strands of hair on the bathroom floor that clearly weren’t ours (we have a photo showing the room was untouched, yet there was hair!). A staff member came up, apologised, and removed them – at that point, we already felt the room probably hadn’t been properly cleaned, but we decided to give it a chance… which we really shouldn’t have.

We went out for dinner after checking in, hoping that leaving the air conditioning on would help clear the smell, but unfortunately, it made no difference – the room still smelt awful.

We went to reception to request a room change, and unsurprisingly, were told the hotel was fully booked. An older receptionist looked visibly annoyed and told the younger one (who was actually trying to help us), right in front of us, that he must check the room first before offering any help… like, okay, I get it, but isn’t that a bit dismissive to say right to our faces??? He did come up to check, and we were told we’d be able to switch rooms in the morning. Fingers crossed that actually happens – we still have five nights left, and there’s no way we can tolerate this for the rest of our stay!

We’ve travelled to many places and don’t mind older or basic rooms, but cleanliness is non-negotiable – especially when this is supposed to be a four-star hotel… Hello??? There wasn’t even any shower gel provided, just a bar of soap.

Also, if you’re a light sleeper, be warned: the air conditioner is quite noisy.

Will definitely be updating this review on TripAdvisor and Booking.com depending on how the situation is handled.

Update Day 2

At 7am, we went to reception and requested a refund for the remaining 5 nights we hadn’t stayed yet. Honestly, they should’ve refunded last night too, considering how awful it was – but we didn’t want to make things difficult, so we only asked for the rest of the nights.

The morning receptionist (different from the night staff) said we could only be refunded for three nights – apparently tonight and tomorrow are “non-refundable”. No apology, not a simple "sorry for that" – just flat replies. It’s honestly one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever had.

And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse – before bed last night, we discovered another issue: one of the bed’s wheels was broken, so the bed was completely uneven on one side. Again, we have videos as proof.

They did say we could change rooms when we return today, so we’ll see how that goes. Still no apology.

This hotel completely ruined the beginning of our trip – we have to leave the room early this morning just to escape the smell. Now I’m sitting in a café for 2.5 hours waiting for shops to open at 10am because going back to the room is unbearable. It honestly smells like vomit in there. The room number is 1621.
