If you’re planning a staycation in Singapore, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong is a hidden gem worth considering. Situated just 5 minutes' walk from Marine Parade MRT, the hotel’s prime location is ideal for those seeking a hassle-free retreat without straying too far from Singapore’s vibrant East Coast.
I was recently invited to review the hotel and I’m here to share my review. Don’t worry, even though the stay is sponsored, my review is honest and 100% based on my personal experience!

The check-in process went smoothly for me despite the queue. The staff were professional and quick to respond to any requests. I was pleasantly surprised to find a money-changing machine near the reception – something I don’t usually see especially in hotels of this size.
It’s such a convenient feature, especially for guests who might need cash on the go without the hassle of finding a money changer or an ATM. So, if you’re travelling to Singapore and staying at this hotel, this information is useful to you!

Although it’s rated 3 stars, the Queen-Standard High Floor Room exceeded my expectations. It was spacious, clean and offered a beautiful view of the Joo Chiat and Katong area. I was also provided with soft and firm pillows, to ensure I receive a comfortable night’s sleep!

What stood out to me the most was the hotel’s sustainability initiatives. A filtered water tap is installed in the bathroom so you can easily refill your bottle, reducing the usage of single-use plastics. Plus, all the shower products come from a sustainable brand that uses superfoods, which are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
Shopping malls like 112 Katong and Parkway Parade are just a short walk away and the
Katong/Joo Chiat area is teeming with rich heritage and beautiful shophouses, perfect for sightseeing and Instagram pictures!

The best part? You’re surrounded by plenty of Muslim-owned/Halal-certified eateries! If you’re into café hopping, then this area has some real gems for you to explore – you’d be spoilt for choice. I went to Bored Tacos for lunch and Hay Gelato for dessert, conveniently located across the hotel.
The hotel offers a 24-hour gym for those who like to stay active and if you need a clean set of clothes afterwards, the laundry facilities are available for just $7 a load. My stay also came with a halal-certified complimentary breakfast buffet- which was the highlight of my stay.

Held in the Great Room, the buffet offers a delectable spread of hot dishes, pastries, desserts and fresh fruits along with an unlimited flow of your favourite drinks - coffee, tea or juices. I left in a food coma after having a bit of everything, but no regrets! You can also choose to dine indoors or outdoors, although be sure to come early as seats fill up quickly.
Whether you’re looking to immerse yourself in the rich culture or vibrance of the East Coast, or simply seeking a respite, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong checks off all the boxes for a fuss-free and comfortable staycation. I left feeling satisfied and refreshed.
So, if you’re looking for an affordable yet comfy stay in Singapore, make that reservation now!
