Situated in the hipster neighbourhood of SS15, Souka Bakeshop in Subang makes freshly-baked cakes and homemade desserts. Don't confuse this one with their outlet at Mukha - the one at Subang is their larger and main outlet. Stepping into Souka, you will definitely be impressed by the fine selection of classic desserts including lemon meringue pie, traditional baked cheesecake, and chocolate fudge cake. When you're here, make sure to try out their to-die-for pavlova! Other bestsellers are the salted caramel chocolate cake, the hummingbird cake which is a banana-pineapple spice cake with cream cheese frosting, and the meringue-dessert pavlova.

3. Pickle and Fig

If you're craving for a nice hearty meal along with a smoothie or a coffee, Pickle and Fig is the way to go. They are popular for their toasted panini sandwiches, including longtime favourites Rotkraut, Beef pastrami and Cheese panini as well as the Hoisin Chicken, Egg, Grilled Zucchini and Cheese panini. One of the best coffee places in KL, PODGY Kurau is the new home of what used to be known as PODGY & The Banker that was located in Sri Hartamas.

And this new location in the hipster part of Bangsar complements PODGY well too. Enjoy a large menu selection from pasta, salad and sandwiches. And you must try their smooth coffees. Named after American rock legend Santana’s instrumental classic, there's plenty of soul to be found in the menu offerings ? If you are feeling adventurous, make sure to try Cup of Nations! 6. Little Rimba

Literally translated to Little Jungle in English, you definitely want to be camera ready for this place ?  Its stunning interior decor is jungle-inspired, with lots of wood, white, and greens. Large ceiling-to-floor windows allow plenty of natural light, perfect for your foodie photos! Outside, they have two feature walls (one with a giant tiger!) great for your Instagram feed ? Their main cuisine is hearty and scrumptious local Malaysian delights! But if you’re craving for some western meals, they also serve a variety of delicious pasta.

This hidden gem might be tucked away in Bandar Bukit Raja but it's well worth a visit for its cozy atmosphere! If you're an avid reader or you simply love having books around, then you'd love the bookshelves in the cafe. Their indoor seating might be limited but they have an outdoor dining area in their backyard, complete with wooden furniture and plants - perfect for that #ootd shot! Some of their best-sellers are the portobello, salted egg yolk croissant and hazelnut latte. The coffee beans are brewed in-house too! 8. Cake Jalan Tiung

Starting out as home bakers, owners Shafinaz and Hidzad opened up Cake Jalan Tiung as their customers began to expand over the years. The folks at Cake Jalan Tiung are also known to offer cakes with funny and unique names - like Cheese Bedebah!, Samseng Kg. Pandang and Handsome Boyfriend! One of the crowd’s favourite is the Tiung Chocolate Mess - made with a mixture of chocolate cake chunks, meringue, cream, strawberries and a shot of either milk or coffee. It sounds weird until you actually taste it! During this period, they only limit their dine-in customers to 18 people at one time, so you don't have to worry about the cafe being overcrowded.

9. RGB Cafe

RGB Cafe might be located right in the heart of KL (near KLCC!) but its vibe feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Labelling itself as a "friendly neighbourhood cafe", this is the place to head to if you need some tranquility. RGB which stands for "rather good beans" serves excellent coffee, mains and freshly baked cakes and bread. They have everything from all-day breakfast to nasi lemak kukus, avocado & hummus toast as well as vegan options. What's great is that they provide a variety of alternatives to dairy milk for their coffee - you can choose between soy, almond or oat milk!
