Hijabi supermodel Halima Aden has graced runways, fashion shows, magazine covers and more - and now she's putting her superstardom to good use with a brand-new initiative to help frontline medical workers in the USA during the COVID-19 pandemic. 😊 (Find out more about Halima's amazing journey from refugee camp to runway here!) She joins other big names in fashion such as make-up artist Daniel Martin and hairdresser Chris McMillan (he created the 'Rachel' hairstyle from FRIENDS!) in contributing to Anywear design's limited-edition #bandingtogether line of headbands, bandanas, and face coverings. Halima has also supported other COVID-19 responses such as Johnson & Johnson and Vogue Arabia so this is just the latest in her efforts to spread awareness and give back to frontliners! 😄  Curated by fashion and style magazine Allure, #bandingtogether uses upcycled fabrics to create limited-edition sets that are fashionable and also give back to a good cause. With every purchase of a turban, hijab, or face-covering set from the line, a set will be donated to doctors, nurses, and other frontline medical professionals in the USA! 😄 Anywear design even consulted medical professionals before production started to ensure that the products would be comfortable as well as medically safe and sound.
Credit: @anyweardesign on Instagram Halima's decision to participate was partially inspired by her own experiences working in a hospital at the start of her career - she was still working as a cleaner in hospitals for several months after her modelling career started! Through her contribution, she hopes that hijabis working on the frontlines are able to maintain their modesty while still being able to stay safe and hygienic in the face of the pandemic. 😊 Her contribution to the line includes face masks, hijabs, and turbans that are made from a breathable, organic tetra material that allows the wearer to stay safe without having to worry about overheating.
