Chinese New Year is coming soon and we're sure many of you are looking for a halal reunion dinner in Singapore! Finding a halal eatery for your Chinese New Year reunion used to be tricky but not anymore, thanks to the rise of halal authentic Chinese restaurants in Singapore and hotel buffets offering New Year specials ? We've rounded up 12 halal eateries in Singapore for your scrumptious reunion dinner this Chinese New Year 2020.

1. Segar Restaurant

Specialising in yummy and reasonably priced zi char (Chinese home-cooked dishes) and Chinese seafood dishes, you can definitely count on Segar Restaurant for a hearty reunion meal.

Their CNY sets start from $238 (for 4-6 pax) and you'll be treated to a variety of their mouth-watering dishes like Hong Kong-style steamed seabass/red snapper, garlic/dragon-eye prawns, golden seafood fried rice and more. But if that's not enough for you, add a few of their highly recommended dishes like assam curry fish head, claypot chicken and black pepper crab!

The best part is that all the sets come with their Prosperity Abalone Yu Sheng! Yes, instead of using raw fish, Segar actually serves abalone for their lo hei instead which makes it worth a visit especially if you love abalone ?

Anyone who frequents halal buffets in Singapore will tell you that StraitsKitchen at Grand Hyatt Singapore is the place to go for an enticing spread of the best local food, including Chinese cuisine!

With their CNY sets ranging from $238++ to $988++, you'll get a chance to try their award-winning chilli or black pepper crabs. 5. Jinshangyipin

Hotpots are very popular during Chinese New Year reunions and Jinshangyipin is probably the only place in Singapore where you can experience an authentic halal Chinese hotpot. Nothing spells celebration more than a warm and comforting meal with your loved ones ?

With an all-you-can-eat buffet with a variety of marinated beef, mutton and chicken with seafood like fish, squids, prawns and more, you're bound to have a good time bonding with your loved ones. What's more, everyone will get their own personal hotpot and you can choose from 5 soup bases - Spicy Soup, Pickled Vegetable Soup, Herbal Soup, Mushroom Soup, and Tomato Soup!

6. Smith Marine

A reunion meal in a floating restaurant? Sign us up! This year, why not take your reunion meal up a notch by having it at Smith Marine, Singapore's first floating restaurant which is also halal-certified? Getting here is really interesting as you'll need to hop on a bumboat.

You can choose to order ala carte dishes or CNY set menu but either way, you'll get to treat yourself to their prosperity yu sheng or experience catching your own seabass or snapper fish which they'll prepare according to your preference. If you get the set menu, you'll definitely get a taste of their chilli or salted egg crabs, prawn and squid dishes and more. The sets start from $688 for 8-10 people and are inclusive of the 2-way boat ride to the restaurant.

Best known for its ambience and poolside dining at the Village Hotel Changi, Saltwater has a dedicated menu for the Chinese New Year festive season from 13 Jan to 8 Feb.

One thing you can look forward to is, of course, their prosperity yu sheng which you can enjoy with your loved ones. But the CNY menu also comes with special treats like their roast duck and chicken (dinner only), smoked duck popiah with hoisin sauce, a dim sum spread, chilli prawns, salted egg crispy squid and more.

Instead of just having a typical BBQ steamboat buffet, it's time to indulge in a 4-tier pagoda steamboat at Flame Cafe!

What we love about Flame Cafe is their variety of ingredients - take your pick from juicy marinated meat to fresh seafood and more. 11. Warong Kim’s Seafood

We've seen a number of places on this list serving zi char but Warong Kim's Seafood probably has the most awards to its name!

Did you know that their black pepper crab has been labelled Singapore's best by Lonely Planet and its chilli crab ranked among the top 10 in Singapore by Epicure magazine? This is definitely one place you won't want to miss for your reunion meal!

If there's another dish that Warong Kim's is famous for, it has to be their Hokkien Mee. Their X.O. 12. The Dim Sum Place

The best part about having dim sum is that you'd always have to share it with someone, which makes it perfect for a reunion meal!
