I stopped in for lunch. Had the chicken sandwich and a few items from the hot buffet. Everything was really good. Like home cooking. I was even given sample of food to try some other items. I highly recommend whether you are plant based or not. Food is all homemade, delicious, quick and convenient. Also, very good prices.
The food here is amazing! Highly recommended trying the hot food by the pound. You can get a delicious home cooked meal for $10-$15 . The service was good but the only thing is I think the staff member working today was not in a good mood , which does effect my experience, but would still come back because the food is that good ?
I am visiting from Scranton PA where there no westindian restaurants and there not alot of options for vegan food . I had the pleasure of trying uptown veg Bk for the first time, and I was absolutely amazed! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff were friendly, and the food was beyond satisfying. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Food was okay, definitely one of things you acquire a taste for. As a lifelong vegan, I’ve had plenty of good experiences. This food is just okay, 5/10. Nothing that I would write home about nor would I say it was bad. It was bland vegan food, the type that your non vegan friends would taste and respond with “I could never go vegan.” To their immediate defense though, with zero doubt I can tell their food was very healthy. You won’t find food loaded with sodium, carbs etc here. If you eat like this everyday health problems probably wouldn’t exist. Service was amazing and definitely felt comfortable the whole time there. I can’t even dare to complain about that. Very, very nice people. Clean place and environment was nice.
Kathy greeted us with kindness and open arms. She patiently explained everything to us. Thanks. Now the backyard was beautiful and it was a nice spring day, so we sat out there. We ordered alot because its amazing. Vegan, gluten free and organic options. Fresh made juice. The watermelon, peanut punch and seamoss and soursop were fresh, refreshing and hydrating and perfect sweet. The patties were the best I've ever had in my life. Huge. The callalou was my favorite, my friends favorite was the vegan fish. The hot sauce was fantastic. House made like everything. The collard greens 10 ?, the mac n cheese made with yucca 10 ?, the rice and peas fantastic, the eggplant 10 ?, the teriyaki vegan chicken 10 ?, the curried chicken and jersey chicken 10 star. The desserts are a must. The coconut cake 10 star ? and great blueberry cheesecake. The establishment has a sister restaurant opened 25 years in NYC. The 2nd oldest in nyc. Iconic.
