3 Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha, Colombo 00500, Sri Lanka
Authentic Indian food experience in the heart of Colombo. Situated in the busy Thummulla junction, front parking can be an issue most of the time since it can accommodate only 5-6 vehicles. But there is a dedicated parking space at No 17, which is just opposite the IOC petrol station nearby. They have two seating areas. Downstairs non ac, bit busy area and the upstair fully air conditioned family dining area. Ambience of upstair seating area is good. Menu has a wide range of dishes, beverages and dessert items. I found the taste to be authentic, but bit below the other Indian restaurants I have dined nearby. Prices are reasonable. Staff was very friendly, energetic and helpful, especially John who served us well. Accepts both cards and cash. Can recommend if you are a dosai fan.
It was a weekday lunchtime, so crowded by the regular customers from the workplace around thummulla area. Even the the places is almost full we found a nice table for 3 persons to have lunch. Once we place the order it took around 15/20 minutes get it done. And midway of the lunch we extended the order, waiter was quick and very friendly. Taste is above average, they coock large quantities i guess. So it deviated from the real authentic taste, but definitely it is above average. Recommended for anyone. Note that this is a vegetarian resturent.
Pure vegetarian restaurant and the food was tasty. We had North Indian Thali which was the best when compared to South Indian Thali, which I had later from another branch. Special fried rice was quite ok. Smoothie was the worst. It’s better to buy Fruit & nut icecream instead of this. The portion is very much enough as we ordered 2 main meals and it was very heavy for two of us. If you are a binge eater, then it’s not a big deal.
Sri Vihar is a lovely place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful atmosphere. The temple is beautiful, and it’s a nice spot for quiet reflection or prayer. The surroundings are calm, and the people there are friendly. It’s not too crowded, so you can really take your time to enjoy the space. A great place for some peace and serenity.
