Lauries Rd, Colombo 00400, Sri Lanka
Average food. Vegetarian. Have a lot of variety on the menu, so all items may not be good. Some are tasty, while some lack. See a lot of customers having their Thali. Have tried it too. Its ok. Nothing very exciting though. Prices are reasonable. Staff service is very good and food is served fast. 16th July 2024 Lunch at Suryas Vegetrian Restaurant, Lauries Road, Colombo 4 Ordered Paneer Kurma with Paratha set. The paratha set comes with complimentary onion raita, veg kuruna and chana gravy. They all were good in taste. Even their paratha were the typical Indian type lachcha paratha with layers unlike the Sri Lankan parathas served elsewhere which are just flat thick roti's. Budget friendly too. Not very expensive at all. I hear that their thalis are good too. You can go for that. Would recommend the owners to have some wall hanging canvas paintings which should help to damper the noise wooden chairs make with the nylon leg cushions, when moved by customers to seat or get up. Also some soft music would also help to again damper the chair noise and improve the ambience. Overall, a good place for lunch and dinner as they have wide variety on the menu. 29th July 2024 Lunch at Suryas Vegetarian Restaurant, Lauries Road, Colombo 4 Ordered Chole Bhatura (Indian Light Meal) with roasted papad and fresh papaya juice Total paid Rs.1,530 I was surprised to see Chole Bhatura on their menu. And I ordered. To my surprise it came out to be perfect. The bhathura ( Large puri) was just so soft and hot. The Chole (chana with gravy) was tasty. I would have preferred a larger one bowl of Chole instead of 2 small bowls. But taste wise they both were excellent. Must try here.
Good food, clean and nice restaurant. Staff can be friendly and smile. Been here few times and have never seen anyone smiling. For food, service, cleanliness... recommended!!
Last Saturday I went to Suryas in Bambalapitiya. The spl mashroom fried rice was absolutely delicious and the Paneer 65 was heavenly. To finish off the filter coffee was a perfect 10/10 it reminded me of my days in Chennai. The staff were also very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better.
I have been there a couple of times for lunch and dinner with my friends and family. The restaurant is clean and offers a good selection of food from Indian and Chinese cuisine. So far I have tried plain dosa, mushroom masala dosa, butter naan, pulao, ulundu wada along with a few curries made of paneer, mushrooms and vegetables. None of them disappointed me or others I have been with. I found the mushroom based dishes are pretty tasty during my visits. I have also tried their last which was nice. The service is ok even though it's not the best in the class. Each time the staff fulfilled our requests without any issues. They have a sweets counter near the entrance which offers delicious Indian sweets. Sri Suriyas is one of the places I go when I feel like having Indian food. And I will return again.
One of the best places for authentic Indian food that is actually very yummy.
